The outcome of Chicago is not a disaster, negative result for FYR Macedonia, as NATO enlargement was not on the summit's agenda, US Ambassador Paul Wohlers told reporters at an open media event on Wednesday.

"In some areas, such as NATO, EU integration processes, FYR Macedonia has had frustrations. These frustrations are expected when you want but cannot become NATO member. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent a clear message that NATO doors remained open for all candidate countries, especially for FYR Macedonia.

There is no need to wait the next NATO summit for FYR Macedonia's accession to the Alliance," Wohlers said, pointing out that 90 percent of the Chicago meeting on the top was focused on the transition of NATO-led mission in Afghanistan.

The US believes that Macedonia should become a member of NATO before the next summit of the Alliance,” said US Ambassador to Skopje Paul Wohlers, as cited by Macedonian Vecer daily.

Wohlers added he expected for the Macedonia-Greece name row to be solved soon.

The US diplomat commented further that Macedonia has met all the membership criteria and thus there was no need of a summit for the country to join the Alliance.
