Cool test, I saw this link on Stirpes (http://forum.stirpes.net/computers-internet-security-privacy/23448-whats-speed-your-internet-connection.html).

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test (http://www.speedtest.net/)

After the test is complete you'll see an image like the one below with a button "Copy Forum Link". Click on that button and then paste it into here, to compare with others.

Here is mine:

Depends on how far away you live from the central. I live 400-500 meters away from the central and have a speed loss of roughly 4Mbit. So say about 1Mbit per 100-125 meters.

Ziggo can provide us with 120Mbit down and 10Mbit up here, that's the fastest in my city, well of course the University has the fastest internet. At the University, where I worked, we had a connection of 250Mbit down and 60Mbit up, freaking fast internet :).

But mostly it depends on the prices of the providers and the connection speeds that the providers actually provide... Look at the Netherlands and Belgium for example... those two have big differences regarding internet

That is just too much. What would somebody want to download/upload with that? That is almost two 4.7GB DVDs in a minute. I guess if you are running tons of computers all constantly downloading/upload something of a huge size that would be useful, but for the common person? This isn't even mentioning how much of a bottleneck it would be depending on the computer.

It's the newest trend in battles among ISPs. Faster Than Thou! I have a steady speed of 19Mb/1Mb and I already think it too much for what the internet can give you. E.g.: Youtube runs like a snail.

Exception made for some private torrents, it's pretty useless. Anyway I don't like or use them. Private torrent owners are nerdy bitches. You feel you are in a lan party of idiots (tautology). They'll kick you off if you drop your ratio 1% below 1/1. Plus it's a stupidity leaving the computer consuming tons of electricity for a damn illegal torrent. I'd rather have the originals.

Anyway, I find these internet wars a funny thing. Why RIAA and all those whiners do not complain about ISPs? Everyone knows what's the target of this war for speed. When they say... "New super fast DOCSIS 3.0, ilimited 200Mb download"... what are they promoting? :D

Normally get about 20/5.

Anything over 50 down is overkill. With that you'll typically get the absolute lowest latency possible, especially in FiOs areas, and Gigabit ethernet not to mention your modem can barely keep up with the number of different hosts to use 50 down to its fullest. Also, high quality Ethernet cables don't really like going over 5.

Tbh for me even 10 Mbit/s is enough. That's an average film (1,37 Gb) dled in some 20 minutes. The biggest download i ever did was about 21-22 Gb, it took 5 hours. Dunno what can these speeds be needed for. Maybe with the advent of new formats (bluray etc) we soon will be exchanging them instead of DVDs, then it would make sense (bluray disk can be up to 100 or even 200Gb large)

Internet is seen here as something like water, it's a civil right. The entire country is covered by it and there's no broadband in the middle of thick forests or bogs, but there's internet, Kõu to be precise (https://www.energia.ee/en/home/internet/advantages), everywhere.

Kõu transmits on low-frequency radio waves and there are Kõu base stations throughout Estonia. Kõu is available equally well wherever in Estonia you may be. There is no need for direct visual contact to access the internet using Kõu.

Kõu isn't as fast as broadband, but my grandmother who lives in the middle of a thick forest, can read the news from her computer because of this superb internet coverage.

If my grandmother lived in Latvia, she wouldn't have internet access with such conditions.

This is extremely old and wrong.
Romania has the fastest internet speed in the world, and also the cheapeast.
Even 5 years ago we payed 8 euro for 1000 giga download/ 250 upload, when all other europeans barely had acces to 100.

I can only acces 500, even though my pc and switch can 1000, because the default router can only take 500.

Even mobile phones here in Romania can reach 1000 in speed tests.
What do you mean bucharest?Even in my grandma's village I had this speed.

it say romania as not the faster internet connection
it say it is the third in the world for download speed and the 10th in the world for upload speed ...
but you're right , it is very fast endeed , i don't know why it didn't find reported on the top 10

The average download speed of fixed broadband connections in Romania is 72.15 Mbps, the third highest in the world, after those in Singapore and Hong Kong. The average download speed of fixed broadband connections worldwide is 23 Mbps.

Romania is also tenth in the world on the average upload speed of fixed broadband connections, with 36.19 Mbps, compared to a global average of 10.7 Mbps.

Definitely you should compare an average prices for internet service in various countries too and regard this rating from corresponding perspective then.

here Romania is reported be 17th in the world ranking
what i can see some youtube users said it is much faster than that
the point is that several users around the world claim their internet connection is much faster than reported in the same videos ...

While everyone is willing here to publish their scores I decided to introduce you mine.

My broadband provider is Rostelecom. I live in old city area where high speed optical connection substantially is not available, by this means I forced to use an old DSL one via telephone wires. Meanwhile I have to deal obediently with general inconveniences.

The typical specs are following:

PING is 25 ms
DOWNLOAD speed is 3.74 Mbps
UPLOAD speed is 0.74 Mbps

The costs are, in general I pay for it 350 rubles per month, that is equal to 6.25$ in sum.
