After conducting some research (translation: doing a couple google searches), it turns out that his last name is shared by some other Romanians.

As for Edmond, it seems more like an international name to me :shrug:

Northerners (especially those from Moldova) will have a higher number of Baltids and Nordids in their midst. Southerners will have more Dinaro-Meds and Med-Alpines. Basically Northern=light, Southern=dark.

My mother could give you a better description than me. She can tell if somebody is from the Carpathians, just beside them, or from beside the sea, and much more.

moldavia, transylvania and wallachia have always been different states, of course there is. moldova looks and feels eastern european, including phenotypes, transylvania is central european, southern romania is totally balkanic.
