It's actually a US Census designation these clowns have internalized into an identity. They change their names around more than the blacks do. The only tie between them is really linguistic, and even that varies.

Magazines like Latina try to come off as racialist when they can't remotely really do so.

I just don't see any of the above women as having that European sleekness and slenderness of a white women. They all have pudgy bodies. Even the lighter weight ones do not have that European sleekness to them. You can tell something else is present genetically. The whitest ones are still pretty genetically mixed in my eyes. The proportions are incorrect for them to be European women. Those big hips and big legs don't go with the rest of their bodies and you can tell. They have other genes in them. The European sleekness has left them.

It seems as if in the US, the term "Latin(o)" has become synonymous with Mestiço or Mulato.
I´ve always seen it as a linguistic designation for those who´s native language is derived from Latin, like Spaniards, Portuguese, French, Italians and Romanians. It can also be a geaographic label refering to the people of Latin America. The same goes for the term "Hispanic", although this only refers to native Spanish speakers (be they Spaniards or Latin Americans).
