On June 4, 2012, on the Holy Spirit Day – marked for centuries as the Day for commemoration of the victims in the liberation of Macedonia, a group of people with common interests and believes, announced the establishment of the Bulgarian Association of the families from Macedonia [Българско сдружение на родовете от Македония], the association announced in address, presented by its chairperson Mario Primdzhanov, grand-son of Kuzman Shapkarev, FOCUS News Agency journalist reports from the press conference.
The association was founded on March 22 at the Slavyanska Beseda community centre. The major goals of the association are to develop, enrich and popularise the cultural-historical heritage of the Bulgarian families from Macedonia, to assist in the reconcilement of the citizens of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Greece, who have common descent, to help for overcoming the differences in the interpretation of the past, and etc.
