Very, although both have their little idiosyncrasies. Although I think it is easier for Dutch to understand Afrikaans than the other way around. Also, there are a number of dialects in Afrikaans that a Dutch person will not understand, such as Cape Coloured which is practically a language on its own.

Very. Loki and I can understand each other for some 99 percent when we are speaking.
