Clark Gable was born in Cadiz, Ohio to William Henry "Will" Gable, an oil-well driller,[2][3] and his wie Adeline Hershelman. He was named "illiam after his father, but even in childhood he was almost always called Clark.[4] He was mistakenly listed as a female on his birth certificate.
