While the liberals illustrate their understanding of democracy and civilized behaviour once again.

As Mr Griffin arrived at the North West count - held in Manchester's town hall - on Sunday, his car was surrounded by noisy protesters, who broke one of its windows.

BNP leader Nick Griffin has been elected to the European Parliament as the party won its first two seats.

Great speach Mr. Griffin ! Congrats to the British People

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said the BNP's success was down to the failure of other parties, not because it had appealed to many more people.

*yawn*

Griffin on BBC News 2 minutes, saying that ethnic minorities who pay their taxes deserve the protection of the law "and can play for our football teams". Odd, wonder what the hardcore would make of that.

Excellent result, we must not forget Andrew Brons, who won the Barnsley seat.

I already answered basically the same question here (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showpost.php?p=55953&postcount=15). Not that I'm a "hardcore", just sayin'. ;)

As far as football is concerned, I don't give a shit. :rolleyes2:

Great news!

However, the commentary on the elections coverage last night was disgusting. Unanimously, everyone stating how terrible it was that the BNP got even one seat and that "it's a sad day for British politics" and that the other parties should have campaigned harder against the BNP. Yup, that really is democracy in action.

Indeed, democracy is only ok when they like the results :rolleyes2:...

Exactly, who decides what is good and what is bad for this country - the electorate and not some liberal political commentator. It was the BNP's anti-immigration policy that made me vote for them and not some Nazi ideology.

It would be interesting to follow the coming expected media backlash against the people's vote. It's already starting:

The hope we've gained from the BNP (http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/jun/08/europe-bnp-nick-griffin)

Instead of the aghast, uncritical scaremongering, we now have a chance to expose the far-right party in a different way

Very. If mainstream politics/media continues to insult every single person who chose to vote BNP, without even attempting to understand why, then their worst nightmares are yet to come.

When voters vent their bitterness: BNP leader Nick Griffin salutes his election as an MEP

Britain's body politic has been shocked to the core by this week's election of two British National Party candidates to the European Parliament.

Their success is described as 'the ultimate protest vote'. It has been attributed to public disgust with MPs of all parties following the expenses scandal.

Few, if any, Parliamentarians of any persuasion admit what is self-evident to the rest of us: that many thousands of voters back the BNP because it opposes further mass immigration to Britain.

Continues here (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/columnists/article-1192687/Immigration-insidious-conspiracy-silence.html).

Excellent article, this bit is interesting

Many thoughtful, educated people who would not dream of voting for the BNP nonetheless daily use such phrases as 'It's not our country any more', and 'I don't feel I belong in the place where I grew up'.

I noticed this also, many of my friends who were once Conservative voters are now voting for the BNP, but the interesting thing is, these are well-educated (most have BA's and a couple have PhD's), articulate professionals. We're seeing a shift in the voting demographic for the BNP.

Polls show that most BNP voters are male and working class. More than one-third of them are manual workers. This means that they live among migrants, in a way that the liberal middle class does not.

Take for example the last job I did for two days (the first job I had had in over six months, in construction).

The site was ran by Skanska (http://www.skanska.co.uk/en/) and the office workers, like your site manager and whatnot in the site office were British. The workers outside on the job, doing the hard slog were, I'd say 80% Polish and 20% British.

During these low economic times the presence of an 80% ratio of foreign workers taking our jobs is one of the key reasons that I and others vote BNP.

It is disgusting how the government has let down the working class man in this country.
