INTJ:Used to drink once a week ,had to give it up due to blood sugar problems. Don't miss it really but I did enjoy getting hammered once and while. I put no as it applies now.

I have never had a sip of alcohol in my life, and I never will.

I only drink when I see a friend I've not seen for a long while or for special occasions.

I don´t know what the exact parameters for alcoholism are, but generally I consider some one an alcoholic when their drinking is harming them and those around them, or affecting their life in a negative way.
Here it´s not uncommon for friends to get together at the end of the day to have a few drinks and socialize... as long as they don´t exaggerate, I see it as very healthy and natural.

I love Kamentiza and Dab and I pretty much love grape rakija but I live in the US... these common alcohols in the Balkans are... a rare commodity where I live. So I just resort to Irish drinks. Guinness and Jamesons. :thumb001: I drink kind of often... almost daily actually. I like to have a 3 fingers of whiskey and a tall cup of beer ( and more than just one round too) after a long day which is pretty much almost everyday.

I'm not a big fan of vodka, funnily enough, since I'm a "Slav". I must be a bad Slav. :P

My eras of drinking:
- Until 22: very light drinker. 1 lager would be enough if I were to drink at all. Occasional weekends- few lagers were enough;
- 22-25: roughly one week drinking, one week sober. Drinking progressed from 3 to 5 lagers or sometimes more;
- 26-27: reduction in drinking. I would have few 3 day binges here and there and once in a while a calm beer;
- 28-29: continuous increase in alcohol consumption with occupational longer periods of sobriety. Where's before 5-6 beers may satisfy me completely, now I can drink up to 3 bottles of wine if I'm on a roll. I have lost taste for lagers. And unexpectedly gained taste for wine. I may drink weissbier, Guinness or cider as well.

Se prima ero un po' triste, adesso volo su
Ti amo sempre di più!

P.S if you are suffering from depression Alcohol can make it worse.
Depression, anxiety and panic attacks happen when deprived of alcohol induced pleasure, motivation and confidence. Alcohol users experience depression because of alcohol, not necessarily because they are depressive personalities. Alcohol is depressant type of drug, but it works like anti- depressant, paradoxically. And like with all drugs- coming down is the opposite of going up. Whatever pleasure you get, the reverse displeasure you'll have to experience.

Wine does well by supplying your body with vitamins and ferments. But to achieve this goal you don't have to destabilize your brain function with alcohol. A couple of glasses of a natural juice made of native fruits will do just as well.

Alcohol is in depressant category as opposed to stimulants like amphetamine, cocaine, MDMA(ecstasy), because of it's sleep inducing properties. But it doesn't give you depression, unless you have used it for a while and then stopped. But once you lift another bottle, your depression is gone.

The problem is even small doses of alcohol create disbalance in human brain activity because our brains are naturally using spirits to regulate its own functions. Its very precisely balanced and any extra breaking it without any chance to bring it back exactly to its previous state. It doesn't really matter which alcohol you consume and how much, all of them have the same effect on the long run.

For that reason I prefer other means of supplying my heart with necessary elements.

Have you at least read the article?

REDNESS: ‘Drinking causes enlargement of the blood vessels,’ says dermatologist Dr Nicholas Lowe of London’s Cranley Clinic. ‘This leads to flushing and, if you’re prone to rosacea, could exacerbate it.’

THREAD VEINS: ‘If you’re prone to flushed-looking skin, alcohol will only make it worse as excess drinking means your blood vessels lose tone, leaving you with permanent thread veins,’ says Dr Lowe.

FOREHEAD LINES: Drinking dehydrates the skin, which can lead to sallowness, deepening of wrinkles and dryness.

FAINT ‘NECKLACE’ LINES: These go horizontally across the neck. Anti-ageing physician Dr Lynette Yong says: ‘These lines are hereditary — but drinking certainly makes them worse.’

CROW’S FEET: ‘Big drinkers are chronically deficient in vitamin A, which is essential to collagen and elastin formation,’ says plastic surgeon Dr Jonathan Staiano, of the Liberate Cosmetic Surgery Group.

I have omitted here "damage control" info because I wanted these points to look clearer. In any case, it's real, not surprising and requires special effort to "control damage".

Well if someone has legitimate problems such as depression I would never recommend alcohol, professional assistance would be best in that case.
My comment was geared more towards those who have a drink or 2 at home and don't do it outside of their homes as often.

For me, from my experience, the best times I've had has been with friends, family and even sometimes strangers just casually hanging out, going to sporting events or watching them live at lounges or bars. And all those experiences were enhanced by Alcohol. For me alcohol is just fun for others it's a disease. We're all different biologically. My apologies if I've in some way offended you.

I am INTJ. I have not drank alcohol in the past 2 to 3 years. First of all, it mixes severely badly with medication I take, so it is a horrible experience. Secondly, my father is a severe alcoholic so my mother and I don't drink so there is no alcohol in the house.

I never like alcohol too much. I don't like feeling "dis-inhibited". I don't like being perceived as an overly talkative extrovert, which tends to occur when I have drank in the past. Interestingly, I have a strong ability to "hold" my alcohol and can drink more than most people without getting "sloppy".

Alcohol only damages your neurological development when you drink to fall unconscious pretty often. I only drink on weekends and occasionally one within the week since I am 14 and I haven't had any problems with that. I never drink more than 2 litters of alcohol on a single night.

In general I try to eat healthy, so I don't drink alcohol, coffee or eat too much shit.

I prefer hard liquor like Vodka & Juice to beer or wine. It's actually marginally healthier for you, given that you consume less alcohol per smaller serving, the maltose (sugar) in beer is calorie-heavy compared to clear spirits, and fermented vegetables/grains cause water retention/bloating/beer gut.

If you're the type who drinks to get drunk, than you need to consume more beer to do that, which means you consume more calories/carbs/sugar, which equals being less healthy than have a shot of something strong and getting dizzy.

Pretty much the only times I drink are if absolutely everyone else is. But even then, it has to be around the right kind of people, and not those idiots who just drink to get drunk.

Last time I had some alcohol was months ago.
