Is this the parliament building? I remember a thread in another forum comparing parliament buildings of various European countries, I had noted the impressiveness of the Hungarian one then.

What, didn't you know? Budupeștu ("Budapest") used to be an important frontier town of the Greater Dacian Empire™. It was a shining pearl of arts, commerce and cart manufacture before the Romans moved in and founded their ridiculous "Aquincum", impregnating the locals and banishing them to a life of goat herding in the nearby mountains.

I do know all of this things. I currently on Geography - Tourism College :). Most impressive thing - Happiness Park from the center of Budapest. I stayed in the center of Budapest in a Hostel :)
My next objective: Madrid - Espańa :D

No. It was compulsory to learn their language before 1989, but nobody remembers it now.

Carried by their sorry excuses for tanks, of course.

How sad is this but they could have change your alphabet to Cyrillic too. You should be glad that they didn't do that to you because they did this to others in central Asia as well as changing people`s names with Russian/Slavic ones.

So the situation is quite same as Azerbaijan. I heard that over 90% of Azeri people knew Russian language in 1980s because it was compulsory to learn it but today it`s fallen down to 20-30% because they dont wanna learn Russian language in there since 1990s.

Fortunately, they didn't stay long enough. And after 1956, they learned not to push it too far. Knowledge in the language of our occupiers faded out with mild resentment.
