The idea behind the thread is that most people choose a (usually quite expensive) ring instead of options that are cheaper and more functional.

For example a ring is customary when you get married, it's expensive and it doesn't prevent the woman from leaving. Cuffs and legs irons on the other hand, are very inexpensive, and can be used to restrain the woman.

A tattoo is a fraction of the cost of a wedding ring, yet it gives a very striking impression, and no one will want a woman that has some other guy's name tattooed across her butt.
