View Full Version : Caffeine: How do you have yours?
I'm a daily caffeine (ab)user. When I don't have it it leads to headaches.
I'm thinking of investing in a decent coffee machine that will give me Starbucks-like strong coffee with a real kick. Until then, at home I have this:

The best coffee I've ever tasted in my life was at a hotel in Rome. Italians really make the best coffee imo!

I'm drinking this these days :

It's French for all I know.
I also like the coffee from Africa, South America, more especially the Colombian one.
And of course this :

I cant function in the morning enough to actually MAKE coffee hence the reason i down two cans of soda, because i just cant make coffee in the morning without either breaking something or hurting myself neither of which sound fun.
edit : actually this discussion needs a side discussion or a poll for favorite breakfast food... i think i may go make one...

I don't drink coffee, ever. I've maybe tried it three times in my life. I do have a bad habit of diet pepsi/coke, though. I have to at least one glass a day or I get a headache.
Coffee, usually some cheap generic brand that tastes like tar but kicks like jet fuel. At work I have to drink soda, which I hate but I need the boost...

I drink sugarfree cola exclusively for my fix, and my favourite is Pepsi Max. Sometimes, in the absence of Pepsi Max, I'll drink Coke Zero.

Nescafé is good, but my favourite would be Icelandic Cafe mocha(chocolate coffee). I also try to limit my consumption to one cup a day since too much caffeine seems to lead to small skin irritations.

Don't worry, it's one of the the earliest symptoms of being over-caffeinated. I have an IT job so I'm apt to such overuse :)

Pressure filling. As I work changing shifts in IT I need my 40 cups per day. No gay stuff like milk and sugar comes into my coffee, of course. 4500 milligrams per day and I don't get headaches. And I sleep like a baby after having had my last pot for the day.

I've also noticed that strong coffee lowers my blood sugar levels, that's why I prefer it not black but with milk or cream.

A company named Krupp does not exist anymore after the merger with Thyssen in 1999. It is ThyssenKrupp now and deals exclusively in the heavy industry segment.
Krups on the other hand was founded in 1846 and orginally produced scales, later also coffee grinders. Krups was bough by the French kitchen appliances manufacturer Moulinex in 1991 which went bankrupt in 2001. Krups now belongs to the French Groupe SEB (originally: Société d'Emboutissage de Bourgogne), another manufacturer of household appliances.

Caffeine has 0 to 5% effect on me, out of hundred of course. I don't know why actually, but I need at least 3-5 cups to feel anything at all. Annoying for the most part, as I would like to have an immidate effect when gaming into the late hours. Sugar on the other (See Coca Cola) is the power up on my hand as it strikes me well into my heart:p

Caffeine is really not my friend. I never drink coffee at all since I find the taste to be overall disgusting. While I was in Undergrad (sounds so weird being able to say that now:p) especially the last year while working on my thesis and therefore having many sleepless night I drank energy drinks. I often drank AMP and Full Throttle. But its no good for my heart. I've had a heart murmur since I was a kid and a history of heart attacks in the family (though no one ever died from one...strangely resistant to them actually), and when I drink caffeine I feel my heart starting to skip irregularly or skipping a few beats causing some discomfort. 'Tis no good, I tells ya, no good!;)

During the winter I usually drink a cup of hot coffee in the morning. I prefer to grind the beans myself and drink it strong with no cream or sugar (black).
During the summer I like cold tea, or one of those pre-workout boosters with caffeine, beta alanine, L-arginine, creatine, etc.
They sell caffeine powder at my local store but I've never tried that route. I get a little caffeine everyday (mostly just in the morning) but I usually don't over do it.
If I may go a little off topic I also take vitamin b12 injections once or twice a month. But, the most important part of my day is not that morning cup of coffee, it's that period of if pause and silence in the morning, followed by a mental check list for the day ahead. Not quite meditation but it's just a way for me to get my mind adjusted/calibrated, without it I can be a basket case.
I have these machines, and I use Nespresso pods with it. The milk frother makes nice lattes for the evening.

It's good to have that, if you have the discipline for it. Means your day will be organised and won't feel like you've forgotten something. Early morning is the best time of the day.
