So there was this blonde who just got sick and tired of hearing dumb blonde jokes. So one evening she went home and memorized all the state capitals. Back in the office the next day, some guy starts telling a dumb blonde joke. She interrupts: "I've had it up to HERE with these dumb blonde jokes. I think, in the end, that the dumb blonde stereotype arose from emotional need: the spurned wife needs the mistress to be stupid, the social reformer needs to think the prostitute can be educated out of her profession, the weak-willed man needs to think that he's smarter than his arm candy. So blondes, peroxide or not, are called dumb, ditzy, dizzy (mostly in Britain), dingbat, and airheaded. But deep down, everyone knows the truth: we blondes do have more fun.

It would be same as making jokes about African people's woolly hair ... now that would never be allowed in civilized conversation these days! So why are blondes easy pickings? Perhaps because they usually have a sense of humour and are not so touchy-feely like swarthoids about their appearances.

I don't really mind blonde jokes, or negro jokes (what did the negro say when he was walking across a zebra crossing? "Now you see me, now you don't. Now you see me, now you don't"), Gypsy jokes, gay jokes, etc. I don't mind "a Finn, a Swede and a Norwegian ..." types of jokes. I think the character of Piirka (not a real Finnish name btw) in that Norwegian comedy show is hilarious.

What does bother me is the way some groups of people are allowed to be made fun of, and others are not. You can make fun of me all you want, as long as you're really funny. If you pitch a fit when I make fun of you back, that's a no-no.

No, but some are doing it intentionally to ridicule blonde people. It's not just about the funny-ness (which I don't get anyway ... I don't think these jokes are funny as they are disconnected from reality. Something is funny when it bears some truth to it, only exaggerated.).

...I have a hunch that on a collective unconscious, psychocultural level, nordics are associated with angelic features, honesty, kindness and gullibility, plus lack of manipulation skills and cunning.

This is probably what leads to their "mockery" as to being "stupid", their inability to tell deception from truthfulness and their assumption that everyone is as honest in dealings as they are.
Of course it takes a cunning person to mock someone for being non-cunning, if you know what I mean. :coffee:

On a collective psychosexual level, I think it's purely rationalization based on envy and negative stereotypes perpetuated by certain lobbies (Hollywood, porn industry, press, etc).

I think that having to survive in cold, hostile environments calls for social unity and honesty.
There's really no point in developing individualistic goals and manipulation skills if your first and foremost goal is to survive through the winter along with your kin.

There weren't any major property and wealth issues, neither issues of power. I think this common struggle for survival and prosperity was what laid the foundations for Scandinavian social democracy, which, unfortunately, turned into a monstrosity.

But like a friend of mine once said, Scandinavians are monarchists and anarchists at the same time :p

On the other hand, in warmer climates and especially where there was shores, people had no major survival issues and they started developing trade and a materialist mentality.

Trade equals the need for profit and hence the need for manipulation and cunning. So there you have it: swarthies consider themselves smart and successful traders, whereas blonds are considered stupid when it comes to manipulating and making profit.

In short, Germanics deserve their reputation for upfront honesty while peoples from sunnier climates,like,let's say, the Jews, deserve their reputation for business acumen and accumulating wealth by not always honest means.As Marlilyn Monroe was a bleached blond who was also a convert to Judaism and the "blonde bimbo" jokes started with her, I'm rather of the opinion that the blonde jokes probably got started around the end of the Second World War by embittered and envious Jews. Blond(e)s/Nordoids tend toward having a rather steely sense of self and propensity toward logical thinking which leads to certain social faux pas when in the presence of more...flighty/'sensual' types. In my opinion, Blond(e) Nordoids are indeed simpler on many ways; however, there is a majesty to this simplicity that allows us to immediately "bottom line" things - to work immediately through to the greatest relevancies: we're not great with tangential reasoning; certain senses of humour are lost on us, as a result.

They might have opted for the Catholic education system rather than the public education system, but no more than other Catholic groups such as the Irish. I think the 'Polish jokes' here are a result of the large German population, likewise the derisive perceptions of the French and the large German and English populations here. The origin of the dumb blonde, lies for one part in the countryside. People from the country/ rural areas are often found acting more naieve, honest (or they where atleast in the past) than those coming from a city or otherwise urbanized area. Since the percentage of blondes in rural areas is (way) higher than in urban centra (this accounts for N.-America, Australia and N.-Europe), blondness is often perceived as a trait common with rural people. The same accounts for professsions like farmer, lumberjack etc.. hence the jokes about silly farmers, silly blondes, beautifull blonde farmersdaughters (combo of farmer and blond), rough simple lumberjacks, rough simple farmers, etc.. etc..

For the other part it lies between Northern- and Southern Europe. Throughout history the Mediterraneans held high their connection with the Classic civilizations. Those north of the Alps where plumb, dumb, naieve yellow/red haired barbarians. This image persisted throughout the the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. If you were modern/trendy in those days you followed the latest fashion of the Italian citystates and read work of Mediterranean poets. Those who sticked in the older ways and traditions where found simple and backwards. Again the blondest regions of Europe where the latest to be influenced by the newest trends an thus were perceived as being more backwards.

However it is not only silly, naieve, dumb (often blonde, peasant) rural people, they are also often seen as honest, brave and to the point (less talk, more action). Whereass the urban people (often darker) nexto trendy, fast thinking and talkative are also seen as being more distrustfull, slicker and cowering (lots of talk but no action).

I have always found it funny that people are always quick to criticize blondes and call them dumb. And yet you see a very large amount of bottle blondes cropping up. I think some of the old Polish anthropologists (including Czekanowski) would agree with Black Prince. Czekanowski mentioned several times in his various works that among the Poles, there is a rural blonde beauty ideal which could be contrasted with an upper class brunet ideal.

However, this seems to be a gross oversimplification. Perhpas it holds truth for certain areas, but even here its rather dubious. There are Polish rustic folk songs praising raven black hair and dark eyes too. In addition to this, there is a common derogatory saying in Polish - "pig blond" (peculiarly it is used rather exclusively in reference to fair-skinned, blonde men).
