Do you think that there is still the danger that Germany might encroach upon its neighbors, or is that a thing of the past?

No way.

What "danger"? If towns like Stettin, Breslau and Danzig were to become German again it would be fully justified (and would prevent their capital from being ridiculously close to the eastern border).

But this is never going to happen. German demographics is more than ever alarmingly depressed. Eastern regions like Mecklenburg and Brandenburg (once the poltical core of the nation) are still steadily depopulating and there is no prospect they will catch up in foreseeable time.
