Izzat is Muslim but like most of the Ba'ath Party was, he is very secular.

Douris are Arabized Assyrians? I didn't know that, interesting. But be that as it may, red hair is extremely uncommon in the Middle East, and in Iraq in general. Regardless of ethnic group. Especially the hue of red hair that Izzat has.

Indeed, they even share a genetic relationship with Assyrians and other Mesopotamians, in that they also have detectible frequencies of Haplogroup J1*.

Sorry to summon such an old thread from the dead, but I wished to classify him.

I believe his depigmentation, strong jawline and skull shape resemble light berberid types. Although Iraq is a bit far from the traditional berberid habitat, he could be just the result of all those exotic migrations in the post-Rashidun world. In Iraq, model Rosil al-Azawi and general Saad el-Shazly have this Berber-ish look. His profile, though, shows dinaromorphic tendencies.
