After I visited the Sardinian folk costume thread, I was a little jealous so I thought I'll post some Greek folk costumes

The Pontic costume has a very archaic vibe, the Epirote long vest is also common in Albania.

Yes we practically exchanged folk costumes with all peoples of ex-Byzantine Empire.

I just noticed that the Pontic and Cretan costumes have a common characteristic that all others don't, they wear some kind of trousers under their skirts. Anyone know anything about it?

To my non-Greek eyes, the costumes look the same as other Balkan countries.

This costume is from Cappadocia, I found it interesting that it is very much related to the fustanella, the successor to the tunic. Good to see some continuity

The mens costumes? because the fustanella is present in Greece and Albania, the slavic countries have imitation fustanellas.

Both Greeks and Albanians claim the fustanella as there own, its a product of the tunic, which has ancient Greek roots

These all are the traditional costumes which you look wonderful way to show inspire some people to start a Greek dance at the Halloween parties.

Vraka costumes look better than fustanella, more pirate-ish :)
