Probably not Transylvanian food, it's kind of bland but good comfort food, most likely points south have better food.

Balkan cousine is all either Turkish, Austrian, Hungarian, or mixed between the three to a varying degree.

Except in Croatia and Slovenia you have more dishes from Austria and Hungary, less from Turkey, while in Bulgaria, Albania and Greece the dishes from Turkey are more dominant, while in Serbia, Bosnia and N. Macedonia we got balance.

How do you call these dishes in Turkish? We have the same dishes, so I wonder how different it is in your language.

Probably all of them. Exept Greece obviously, I've had good food in Bulgaria, Serbia and Slovenia. Slovenia especially was just mouthwatering, the food has a lot of central european influences, we got hooked on the mash,sauerkraut, meat and sausage dishes :icon_hungry:
The latter reminded me of Hungarian food :Bondage1:

to an extent they're all similar (not sure about croatian or slovenian)
most dishes are common in all of this countries but there are differences in execution. i prefer the turkish most. for my taste at least

For example pide (pita, early pizza) comes from genoese colonies i believe. It's most common in coastal regions today.

Turkish took selectivly from all of Balkans,Middle East,Armenia,Persia and recently even a bit from French and Italian so yeah its rich,colorfull and high developed yet i don't consider them superior to us with regards to seafood,cheeses,wines,fresh vegetables,salads and simple appetizers

Where i give credit to Turks and consider them one of the best around the world is their meat dishes and barbeque stuff.

Overrated doughy mess for the most part. Imam Bayildi is a treat. The desserts are too sweet. Sütlac is is neat, though. But above all, Ayran is top notch.
