From Nîmes, Languedoc-Roussillon region. I think he looks desperately "frankish".

What exactly does the term "frankish" mean?
Does it mean germanic or specifically germanic in a French way?

He looks similar to german football player Marcell Jansen

Germanic in a French way... I wouldn't guess him other than French firstly. Then west German.

Outstanding similarity! He is from a region the Franks were originally from (western Rhineland).

Faelid with a slight Subnordid vibe.
Quite progressive type.

Could pass as British gentry easily. You could imagine him having a game of Water Polo with his good friend, Prince William.

There is a (alpinid?) french vibe in eye, mouth and nose regions.

Yep.
Like almost all French swimmers, Yannick Agnel is purely from the French deep South (his second name is among the most typical ones for Provence).

Those guys are arguably not quite representative of the Mediterranean part of France, but this region enjoys fine weather conditions with plenty of outdoor pools being usable six months a year or more and thus optimal conditions for training.

Generally speaking, since a Subnordid phenotype is a somewhat better fit for swimming, you can expect countries with a significant Subnordid component and a hot sunny weather to be fairly efficient in competition swimming: Southern California, Southern France, South Africa, Florida, Australia, and frequently Italy as well.

Thanks for the additional information regarding training conditions, but I have to object: "Subnordid", provided you define it as a mix of Nordid and Alpinid, is not ideal at all for swimming in my view. For swimming, a rather bone robust, broad-shouldered frame with long arms is ideal. Therefore, mature, robust and muscular phenotypes (Cromagnid, Dinarid, also Atlanto-Nordid) with big feet and hands are preferred, whereas types leaning to pyknomorphic build (Alpinid, "Sub-Nordid") and rather gracile extremities are rarely seen in professional swimming. On the contrary, individuals with an tendency toward acromegaly (Phelps, maybe Thorpe as well) seem to have some technical advantages.

When you take a look at the French relay, you can see quite well what I aid above regarding the ideal racial type for swimming. The only guy in which some significant Alpinid influence is probable is the one to the far left.

Note that "Alpinid" strictu sensu, i.e. Westalpinid, is not a robust - by which I always mean bone robust - type. Alpinids can seem bulky, but mainly due to their fat, but when you take a look at their wrists for instance, you can see that they don't have robust bones in general, at least the classical, "pure" Alpinids with no admixture of more robust, unaltered Cromagnid strains.

Same mix, only that Corded is stronger than Faelid in Jansen, while in Agnel Faelid is stronger than Corded. Both pure Germanic types, obviously...

Change Jansen's name to Johnson and you would have a very typical English American (at least Mormons coming here to preach Jesus look like copies of him)...

I don't agree with him looking very Germanic. Classical Germanic looking people are the Trönders and the Nordo-Cromagnoid mixes(Faelid + Nordid, Borreby + Nordid, Brünn + Nordid) inhabiting most of Scandinavia aswell as parts of Germany, the Low countries and Britain(and those living in the New World ofc)

This guy looks Germanic in a French way, he has an overall typical "Occitan-Oďlitan-Arpitan" expression.

If he was Dutch you wouldn't be saying he's med, but he's French and from the south so somehow there must be some med in him right?
There's absolutely nothing med about him!

Maybe you’re right, but his eyebrows are unusual thick and his facial impression is “typical French” in some respects. So, minor mediterranean influence is possible. However, all in all he is a good phalian type indeed.
