There's no point on this thread then. Mixed is unespecific and can mean anything. Mestizo refers only to white/amerindian mixes. Mulattos and similar stuff are never called mestizo.

Depends on the region really. In Brazil for example, mestizo refers to any mix (most likely Amerindian, Euro, and black). Same for other ethnically diverse Latin countries (e.g. Central America). Most Mexicans have a little black in them too.

Anyway, the point of this thread is to celebrate Latin beauty, not debate over terminology.

Yes, that's true, we put any mix into the same category: Pardo, that is the Brazilian version of the word "mestizo", because the word mestizo is Spanish and we speak Portuguese.
But then, within the same "Pardo" group, we have sub-groups. For example: Caboclo is someone "White+Amerindian", Mulato is someone "White+Black"...
But we don't use these words, we just say "Pardo" or "Mixed".

This is not comparable. Light skin is severely far more common in Latin America and all populations are lighter than in Africa.

I totally understand what you mean. Most Slavs don't find the other white groups attractive in general. I think that's normal. You always tend to go for what is closest to you.

É. Muitos nós na Europa temos uma imagem dos brasileiros (de todos serem mestiços, pessoas mais semelhantes a Adriana Lima por exemplo) - é muito fácil esquecer-se de que há muitos que sao tao brancos quanto os europeus (especialmente no sul do Brasil e regioes de Argentina).

Oras, eu não os culpo, afinal este é o estereótipo que se criou acerca do Brasil, muda-lo (se acontecer) vai demorar muito. Mas sim é verdade, existem muitos brancos (brancos mesmo) aqui no Brasil. Aqui em São Paulo por exemplo, a maioria é italiana, inclusive eu te mandei algumas fotos de cidades aqui fundada por esses imigrantes.

On its broader sense, 'Mestizo' means any mix indeed. After all, it comes from the latin Mixticĭus (mixed/mixture).
