It was Üsküdara Giderken ..but not completed..though it was one of the best ....They finished it and started a stupid serial ,desperate houesewives Turkish version :( instead this% 100 native and creative project...
Oğuz type there representing an socially awkward creeper annoying nerdish and somewhat cute engineer was not a stereotype but a good portreyed character cannot be found in most serials...

It looks Turkish soup operas became no.1 in the world because even Latin Americans are watching our shows but they were previously no.1 in this industry.

I don't watch neither of these series either because these are mostly aimed for woman audience. I don't know if i will disappoint you but historical series are also full of drama. They are doing these historical series just to add more glamor with Ottoman style decors to attract more audience.

Tough i watched "Muhtesem Yuzyil" for a while. These are worth watching only because of clothing and overall quality of settings. They do great job on that. For example, the clothing and settings of "Muhtesem Yuzyil" is much better than "Tudors", British made series for the King Henry VIII.

I thought always Gumus and Ihlamurlar Altinda were the most popular Turkish series around the world but I guess Muhtesem Yuzyil topped both of them:

The Turkish TV series “Muhteşem Yüzyıl” (The Magnificent Century), which has become one of the most popular productions in Turkey and increased people’s interest in Ottoman history, is opening to the world, daily Radikal reported.

No other Turkish series, which will be broadcast in 40 countries this month, is carried in so many areas around the world.

“Muhteşem Yüzyıl” was introduced to the world last year during the MIPTV Television Fair in Cannes. The series drew great interest from many international channels and will now be distributed in 40 countries, 22 out of which are in the Middle East.

The series was first broadcast overseas in Slovakia and Czech Republic and became very successful, reaching a 45 percent rating within a short time. Last week, the series began airing in Macedonia and was soon drawing 32 percent of viewers and bringing its carrier to the top of the country’s ratings competition. It has also gained a large number of viewers in the Middle East.

Goal is 60 countries
“Muhteşem Yüzyıl” is also opening up to the world in new regions as a significant brand;
the goal of the series is to reach 60 countries this year, according to officials.

The series will start broadcasting on Russian channel Domashniy on Jan. 14, Anatolia news agency reported.

Long popular on Russian social sharing websites, the series was introduced by the channel with the motto, “Palace decoration, magnificent dresses and unbelievable success on earth. The story of concubine Roksalana, who stole the heart of the sultan: Roksalana and Süleyman.”

Starring Halil Ergenç, Meryem Sarah Üzerli, Okan Yalabık and Nebahat Çehre, the series moved to Star TV this month and added actor Mehmet Günsur to its team.

Produced by TIM’s Productions and directed by the Taylan brothers, the series’ script is written by Meral Okay.

He is a fucking asshole. The day that he descends from his office, that will be the day i do my biggest celebration in my life.

He didn't ask for covering up but he criticized the directors about falsifying the image of Ottoman empire. Well, the producers really falsifying it but Erdogan is in no position to criticize them. This is a soap opera and they can portray them however they like, as long as they are not insulting the historical image.

So, this prayer scene was probably the response of the producers to Erdogan.

Magnificent Century will be on air in China, Italy and Lithuania
Historical Turkish soap opera popular television series Magnificent Century (Muhteşem Yüzyıl) has added Chinese pubcaster CCTV, Italian multi-ethnic broadcaster Babel and Lithuanian commercial channel LNK to its international broadcasts. The popular television series, which is in its 4th season in Turkey, is about the tenth and longest-reigning Emperor, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire Suleiman the Magnificent, his era and his wife Roxelana (Hürrem Sultan).

Magnificent Century has been a major seller for distributor Global Agency around the world, with CEO Izzet Pinto claiming it has now reaches a total audience of more than 200 million across 48 territories. The show is a huge success in Balkans where it is the most watched TV show in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2013 and the fourth most successful show in Serbia.

http://tbivision.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Magnificent-Century.png

Magnificent Century has been on air not only in many traditional Turkish TV show consumer markets in Balkans, Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa but it was also shown in Russia, Pakistan, Ukraine and Czech Republic.

The show stars Halit Ergenç as Sultan Süleyman and Meryem Uzerli as Hürrem Sultan. Magnificent is a nickname given to Sultan Suleiman by West. He is known as Kanuni (The Lawgiver) because he personally instituted major legislative changes relating to society, education, taxation, and criminal law. His life and era is not only interesting because he has overseen the "Golden" age of the Ottoman Empire in its artistic, literary and architectural development, he has also broken with Ottoman tradition and married a harem girl Roxelana, a Ukrainian who has later became Hürrem Sultan, one of the most powerful women in Ottoman history and a prominent figure during the era known as the Sultanate of Women.
