Very thought provoking pictures. My dad would always point out the areas of Bristol which had been completely demolished during the war, and how he would play as a child in amongst these battered and derelict areas with his mates. It puts it all into perspective when you think that these areas were at one point in flames and the air full of the stench of death.

The stories my Nana would tell me about her experiences during the war, such as huddling under her reinforced table heavily pregnant as the roof of the house fell in on her...alone!

Cheers, Wat. These are superb. I recognise not a few of the places, and seeing bodies being towed along on the very spots I've stood in, well... My ex's grandparents were there at the time of the Blokad.

I might actually steal the idea for Manchester, which had its own share of getting bombed out.

In some of the pictures it makes it unclear which is then and now. The old transpositions obscure the modern walls. Not to mention that past photos capture specific moments in time whereas the modern images are more static.
