Barbara Oakley, Et. Al, Pathological Altruism, Oxford University Press, 2012, 465 pp., $55.00.

Pathological Altruism is a fascinating book. As a long-time student of the most common and dangerous of all pathological altruisms—the willingness of whites to give up their homelands to non-whites—I was hoping at least one of the 48 contributions would mention this problem. None does, but several throw useful but indirect light on it. The book is also filled with eye-opening observations about human nature and how the brain works, and its main editor, Barbara Oakley of the University of Michigan, has done a wonderful job of eliminating repetition and contradiction. Even Edward O. Wilson of Harvard has written that this book taught him something completely new, and I believe him.

I've always thought this was the case. Europeans are just much more altruistic than other groups of people. It works well in close knit communities (if you goto affluent white neighborhoods you can see how well it can work... or look at Nothern European countries with a social oriented state and see how they have the highest quality of life standards) but in a multi-culturalist society it amounts to selfless self sacrifice and the worms of society only know how to exploit it. Selfless altruism = suicide.

The whole book is garbage. Whites don't want to give up our homelands. It's being done against our wants.

Bloody White national idiocy. Use it as a door stop or fire kindling.

The book doesn't specifically mention anything about white nationalism. Similar to evolutionary biology books. They don't specifically mention any ideological agenda for racial superiority even if they acknowledge the differences between races. They just say it's a moral dilemma and that it would be "wicked" to systematically punish people if they have less genetic intellectual capabilities. Edward O Wilson compares ants and insect behaviours to human behaviours and he's pretty well known. He isn't some raging white nationalist or some sociopath. So you have to try and separate any moral dilemma with what science can comprehend in human behaviors. Then you can try to apply that knowledge separately to politics, ideologies, or whatever else.

Whites and particularly nordics are definitely the most altruistic in the world imo. I've heard some people claim it is due to high outbreeding, leading to a wider spread of one's genes and therefore a greater genetic commonality across society.

Barbara is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers. Although, she is currently an Associate Professor of Engineering at Oakland University in Michigan, she has written five books. Underlying the work is Oakley's scientific training and research related to medical imaging and genetics, precisely the areas where important breakthroughs in brain research are being made. In the first hour we値l discuss what she calls pathological altruism. She値l explain how altruism and empathy, so highly regarded and embedded in society, can actually cause harm. Barbara says some people are predisposed to kindness to the point of being destructive to themselves and others. In the second hour, we値l discuss "Evil Genes" and "Cold Blooded Kindness." Barbara provides support for the idea that 'evil' people act the way they do mainly as the result of a dysfunction. We talk about the Soviet Union, Obama, the welfare state, centralized systems and group think. Is kindness always the right answer? Should altruistic ideals be foisted upon everyone? We end the hour on Ayn Rand.
