Scandinavian/Nordic History and Culture

New guy here very interested in scholarly books on Scandinavian and Nordic history and culture. I have a background in history, but primarily U.S. and modern European. Interested in good, well researched books on early and pre-Christian history of the North. Any ideas? Thanks.

I would find university courses via google, and their curriculum, its a good way to find good books on various topics, that way you can choose particular topics and in English.
