The good thing is that all these castles and palaces are open for the general public
unlike in Austria where most of the castles are in private hands
I will add some self taken pics later.

Please no harsh words to the Austrians, keep in mind that without them those Bohemian wonders wouldn't exist!

I cannot but notice that most of them are located in formerly German regions, in which the original population has been deported or massacrated.

But contrary to the Poles, the Czech have allowed original German placenames to be preserved in some cases, only adapted to the Czech spelling — Rožmberk (Rosenberg), Landštejn (Landstein), Vimperk (Winterberg)...

You are right Habsburger lords in most cases built these masterpieces of architecture.
And yes they are situated in the South of Bohemia where many Sudetendeutsche used to live for centuries.
The names like you observed have often just been Slavicised.

It was a fashiopn in the middle ages to name catles by German names by its Czech noble owners.
