Making this thread to document the progress on gatherin' who is "True P312" within the Y-DNA haplogroup R1b1a2a1a1b.

A while ago after I got me Z245 results in I went through to find the root locations for all the True P312's known to date in the R-P312 project page:

P312+
DF27- DF19- U152- L21- L459- Z245- L238-

one from South Yorkshire, England (mine).
one with Gaelic surname.
one from Nottinghamshire, England.
one from Bedfordshire, England.
one from Bristol, England.
one from Texas (presumably English origin).

So thats 5 out of 6 bein' English so far.

I wonder if perhaps there's an undiscovered SNP upstream of L238, consider:

South Yorkshire (part of Danish Jorvik)
Nottinghamshire (borders South Yorkshire and was a Danelaw Borough)
Bedfordshire (became a Danish territory after the Treaty of Wedmore)
Bristol (where Dublin Norse would by slaves from Anglo-Saxons to take back to Dublin).
The single Gael perhaps the result of the slave trade between Bristol and Norse ruled Dublin.

Got notification that 2 out of 10 SNPs associated with L238 are now available for testing at FTDNA, $29 each. It is not clear yet if they are in between P312 or L238 or redundant with L238+, the SNPs of interest are Z2245 and Z2247. I will be testing for these in the near future, funds permitting.
