Too bad that I don't have a camera so I won't be able to shoot any pictures when I am in Norway. But I will look for a camera before I leave. :)

Nice pictures, Germanicus. Where is Littlehaven ?

Littlehaven is situated In West Wales, Near St Davids.....get on the M4 travel past swansea and keep going west...it's a 2 3/4 hr drive from my shire.
To be totally honest i found the cottages and bungalows delightful, most have 2 garages attached, just what i would like to retire to.

Our old farm, its the second oldest house on the island. The chieftain Hårek from Tjøtta, who participated in the battle of stiklestad, killed a local farmer on our farm. Hårek wanted one of his slaves to take as his lover, and the farmer was probably keeping her as a frille himself.
The man was called Laumann and he hid in a cave where they used to take out a rock called kleberstein in Norwegian. The locals call it esjestein, and its a rock type you can form to make pots etc.
Laumann dug himself inside in this small mine, but his beloved dog was at his farm, so when Hårek came, he let the dog out, and the dog ran straight to his owner.
Hårek tied Laumann between two horses and let him he pulled apart on our farm. Archeologists found the remains of a man inside the mine, but they are not sure if its Laumann. There are many burial mounds on the island, so I would think a small chieftain like him would be buried in one of those.

This reminded me of a norwegian song by Vømmøl spellsmanslag. "Vil du værra med mæ hjæm over viddan myrullkvit..."
This myrull (marsh wool) is very warm and was used in the kosmonaut suits in the soviet I read somewhere.

The mountain in the back is called Røyfjellet, which means the red mountain. I think people in the past attributed some magic with the mountain. The chief on Tjøtta, Hårek, have buried a treasure somewhere in the mountain the local folklore tells. Archeologists have found corpses of some men near the sea, maybe it was Hårek's men which he had killed after they had buried the treasure, so noone would know where it was. Who wants to come treasure hunting?:P

My cat Frøya with her catch. If I'd been quicker to get my camera I would have gotten a great shot of her carrying the mouse in her mouth when she was coming up the trail to the farm.

There are not many farmers left on the island, but some of them keep sheep.
This is a type of sheep which is very old, its called wild sheep. The meat is very good, and this guy has a harem of many willing she-goats. Any welsh would be envious;)

Many rock carvings close here, will post some pictures of them later. Sadly they are withering away since they are exposed to the climate. It dosnt seem like the government wants to preserve them for future generations.
The only rock carving on the island they care for is one called skiløperen (the skieer), its a 4000 old rock carving of a man hunting while skiing, and is the oldest image of a man who uses skies.
