Water. Because we all die in three days without it. Or maybe our oxygen-mixed atmosphere... we die in less than three minutes without it!

The greatest resource to man is woman. Because without her by his side, he is only half a person. :)

I mean, do humans collectively need to worry about the future's diminishing resources, apocalypse scenarios or do they have enough potential (in terms of high IQ geniuses) to have a comfortable, adaptable futuristic scene in front of them?

I don't think they can be compared directly. Both are obviously needed in a formula, so at most, you can compare formulas from different periods or places to see which economies are human resource-heavy and which are natural resource-heavy, so to speak.

Understanding the requirements of life comes with our cognitive ability, ergo intelligence.

But naturally, nothing would be able to develop and maintain intelligence if no ground for life at all.

So, our intelligence enables us to make the better out of the existsing resources, but when looking to the animal kingdom* we can se life maintain itself without our kind of intelligence.

But then again, what kind of life is it that we observe in the animal kingdom, and is it desirable?

*Wild life
