Why do you use Turkish names for your dogs? :D
Karakachan is named after Karakachani I guess. Or at least it's from the same Rhodope region.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarakatsani
And the Barak dog might be related to the Turkish breed.

KARS shepard dog - related to Caucasian OVCHARKA
http://d1210.hizliresim.com/12/r/f6tmd.jpg (http://*******/c25MCx)
Ovcharka probably comes from the slavic word for sheep: Ovce.
All these dogs on this thread are just so beautiful. I love them all. Such amazing animals, man's best friend!
Here is Šarplaninac Шарпланинац, Translated to Dog of the Šar Mountains. Also known as the Yugoslavian shepherd dog, originally from Serbia and Macedonia. They are extremely protective but never snappy and always reliable and devoted to its master. They treat their humans as sheep, herding them away from danger or undesirable areas. They are serene and majestic, gentle with children and smaller dogs. :)http://www.vrtirep.rs/upload/psi-velike/41_Sarplaninac.jpg

Cão de Fila da Terceira (now extinct).
"Maroto" the most famous Fila Da Terceira dog (Now extinct) The story - During the running of the bulls in the island of Terceira, Maroto's owner got pinned by a bull against a wall and in desperation he shouted "Grab him Maroto". Maroto jumped from where he was sat and came running at full speed, grabbed the bull by its ear and bit by bit dragged the bull away from his owner.

Caucasian Mountain Shepherd Dog
Caucasian shepherds were bred by herders to protect livestock and flocks. The typical Caucasian Ovcharka is assertive, strong-willed and courageous. It an aloof and reserved dog that does not accept strangers and guests. It is very protective of its family, including children, cats, and other dogs, etc.

It's not just Serbian, is basically shared by many countries in the West Balkans, so this bread is not exclusively Serbian.
Basically this dog who is also known as Illyrian shepherd is used as a shepherd dog by the shepherds in Macedonia since ancient times and is not only limited to Shar mountains, but Korab, Stogovo, Bistra, Jablanica, Baba(Pelister), so this dog has it's origins more in Macedonia region, not Serbia, however the Yugoslav authorities were forcing a policy of shared things for the sake of brotherhood and that's how this dog is now mostly associated with the Shar mountains.
https://i.postimg.cc/Gm1q927Q/800px-Murgjo-Sharr-Mountain-Dog-Nedi-Limani.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
https://i.postimg.cc/nz6q5RNk/sharpl.jpg (https://postimages.org/)comerica bank atm locations (https://banks-nearme.com/comerica-bank-near-me)
From wikipedia:
This breed is most commonly associated with the Shar Mountains region which is how it got its name. However, the Shar is only a single mountain in the Balkans, while the dogs classified as Sharplaninci can be found in many other regions of Macedonia, such as the mountains of Korab, Stogovo, Bistra, Jablanica, Pelister and elsewhere, lending credence to the claims that even the popular and currently official name is rather misleading and not completely respectful.
Many believe that this had been the famous palace dog of Alexander the Great, while the Skilos tou Alexandrou was one of his war dogs...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgFfkeIapHI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MggXATsJTg
Not to mention that Serbia has no share of Shar Mountain anymore, so this is more like a share between North Macedonia and Kosovo!

Yeah, that used to be the nickname of this dog. Goes back to such times and was used in that time period. There was also a Molssian dog breed which was from Epirus but it died out.
There used to even be lions in the Balkans.

Many of the Ilyrians were shepherds, they used such dogs for shepherding. It is said Alexander was gifted such a dog by the Ilyrians.
We still use it for shepherding, in Albamian we call it 'Qen i Sharrit' , Yugoslavs call it Sarplaninac.

I see on youtube comments Serbs claim this dog is Serbian xD That's more funny than calling it Ilyrian IMO. This dog was used as shepherding by pre Slavic people of the Balkans. Especially Ilyrians and it was named even after the Sar mountains in Northern Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia. Yugoslavs adopted it from us natives, even Jashari had such a dog.
https://i.skyrock.net/7888/46347888/pics/1876201123_1.jpg
Not sure what is funny , xD :P
It's also shown through genetics and linguistics that we are Ilyrians , West Balkan people.

What's so funny about it ? We are Ilyrians. The term wasn't coined by Serbs, even if it was so what. It was called so throughout most of Yugsolavia. We don't call it Ilyrian but 'Qen i Sharrit' . Its been named after the Sar mountains.
We used this dog before Serbs or any Balkan people.

The breed of Peritas is hard to ascertain and remains unknown. Peritas is sometimes referred to as a Molosser[6] or Bulldog,[4] perhaps from the fierce nature of a few stories. Others will say Peritas would have been a greyhound.[7]

Another dog which was used by Northern Ilyrians. These type of dogs were mountain shepherding dogs. Albanians and Vlachs were largely shepherds.
Shepherding was also very common in ancient Dalmatia. Even the word Delmatae comes from supposedly Albanian word Delm meaning sheep because the area was largely shepherding.

The breed of Peritas is hard to ascertain and remains unknown. Peritas is sometimes referred to as a Molosser[6] or Bulldog,[4] perhaps from the fierce nature of a few stories. Others will say Peritas would have been a greyhound.[7]

Its called Περιτας
Stop with this autistic delirium
What autistic delirium ?
Alexander and the Epirotes were neighbors of Ilyrians.
Pyrrhus himself was taken care of the Ilyrians as a kid. It was actually an Ilyrian that made Pyrrhus king.
Alexander himself spend time in Ilyria. People fought eachother back then based on everything likr tribes etc and not nationality.
There is no need to get insecure about the truth. I assume you feel as if your identity is attacked as if it is your history anymore than it is ours. Lol.
Greek nation was created in 19th cemtury and Greek mational counsciousness so too.
Greek Macedonians are largely settled Slavs.
Macedonians and Epirotes were people related to the Ilyrians for sure.

Its a fact Alexander had a dog like this . He might also of had other dogs but he was also given a dog like this. He had it killed because it was stubborn. Its known to be stubborn. It has been used to protect sheeps from wolves and even bears. Albanian mountaineers used this dog to protect their sheeps from wolves. There was even a video on youtube where this dog was fighting off a wolf in the Albanian mountains.

Yeah, we had a dog like this when I was a kid before the war.
My relatives also had one. Their dog was very aggressive towards strangers. It would attack almost everyone except for me and my siblings lol ..... we were kids and this dog would love us for some reason.

Yeah, that used to be the nickname of this dog. Goes back to such times and was used in that time period. There was also a Molssian dog breed which was from Epirus but it died out.
There used to even be lions in the Balkans.
Yeah exactly, so i don't know why you're saying it's an albanian breed

Greek Sepherd
It is a great truth the only Greek dog the wolf is afraid
is the shepherd, especially the "lycomachos(the wolf fighter)"
with the iron nails on the neck:
https://dikanno.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/23863-6-9-20152b6-59-522b25ce25bc25ce25bc.jpg
Not all sepherd dogs were "wolf fighters", they became on the course! The wolf first attacked and caught the dog from the neck but the irons hurt him and flinched, he felt that this dog was unbeatable! the Greek sepherd became impertinent, and always stronger and more sturdy than the wolf, grabbed him from his neck and shook him until to kill him, sometimes with two or three shepherds together!
And they were not only wolf fighters but also bear fighters, this was the only Greek dog who dared to fight with bears!

Humans can breed and ''teach'' dogs to do many things ... but fight against brown bear is suicide mission for any dog.
Nature knows better (wolfs) .... 4 - 5 wolfs can try steal the prey of bear as working together ... but none of those wolfs really has any idea to fight against it. Opposite ... for surviving .... they try to exactly avoid it, and only try to steal the meat or part of it. Maybe Amur (Siberia) tiger could challenge adult brown bear (those animals living areas crosses in Asia/Russia), but even then the risk is huge. I more like could think that those animals try to avoid each others.

That is true brown bears have been known to kill tigers as well. They are larger than them. But tigers are the ones with better ambushing ability and hunting ability, so if it surprises the bear it can kill it. But a head on fight would be more dangerous

Secondly those bears have nothing to do adult Brown (Grizzy) bears or Polar bears.
The second one might have been one kind of brown bear, but if so ... it was very small ... far from adult. For sure if you set lots of dogs (and humans) ... the bear will run away. We have brown bears here ... even big ones ... and humans have lived with them since last Ice Age.

Old Finno Ugric's mythologia called Brown bear as a ''King of the forest'' ... and there were probably reasons for that.
There are lots of bears under family Ursidae ... you can educate yourself bit more via here:

The smallest bear weights just 30 - 80kg. For sure there are dogs which can/could kill it. Or some others which they (as trained by humans) are willing to attack.
You can put your dog fight against this ... and if it succeed ... it would have some chances. But there are no dog or even no animals in whole Canidae family which could do that.

The Belgian mastiff was also from Belgium. The Belgian mastiffs were war dogs. They had a crucial role during WW1 in the victory of the Allied forces. After the war, they were not considered useful anymore, as war equipment evolved and their number then progressively decreased. Unfortunately, they are considered to be extinct now by the World Canine Organisation (which is actually based in Wallonia, because Belgium was pioneer in establishing breeds standards).
Here are some pictures of these heroes:

Thanks! :) I think the most famous Belgian dog worldwide is the Belgian Shepherd Malinois, very often used in the police, in the army... It's actually a Malinois that helped catching Bin Laden.
This is the dog in my avatar:

Norwegian Buhund. Ancient breed going all the way back to the Viking era. It was said every farm had one of these scurrying around. The breed is considered to be a direct descendant of the dogs of the first settlers in this country. Has strong herding instincts. It's an active, versatile, pleasant and good family dog.
The breed needs a consistent and friendly upbringing due it's strong willed nature.

Norwegian Elkhound. The national dog of Norway. Bred for hunting. Energetic, strong willed with strong hunting instincts. Gets quickly bored and destructive in a urban setting. Needs a lot of exercise in the woods and fields. Although the breed is strong and hardy, the dogs typically have an inseparable bond with their masters and are quite loyal. Herbert Hoover, the 31st American President (1929-33) owned one.

I must add Australian Silky Terrier, first dog I owned. Like Yorkie, but not a toy yet fierce rat hunter.
I think it was developed as cross of Yorkie and Australian terrier.
Wonderful but very sharp and intelligent dog.

By then your puppy Greek bears seemed to be similar as your men .... ''expert''.
This is adult Grizzy (Brown) bear.
https://cdn.idolnetworth.com/medias/profile/201701/bart-the-bear.jpg
Now bring your Greek dog ... one against one ...and see what will happen. Bear can kill bull in one hit (neck) ... it will broke spinal of any dog just like that.
Between Siberian Tigers (earlier) and Grizzy bears?
https://prehistoric-fauna.com/image/cache/data/size/Brown-bear-and-amur-tiger-size1-738x591.jpg
Based on Russians ... tigers have won/killed grizzy bears 50% of fights, bears killed tigers 27,3% and 22,7% both animals have parted ways. BUT tigers have fought only against younger bears and/or female bears. Not against big adult males.
Opposite ... Siberian tigers really hunts smaller black bears ... even quite often.
Grizzy bears bite: 570 kg/square inch
Grizzy bear has five non retractile claws, longer and sharper than a lion’s.
https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-827062b688f719c405bc60a07ba019ef-c
Dogs bite? The strongest breeds: 250 kg/square inch
Why show a North American grizzly that has nothing to do with Finland or Sweden? Your bears are small, girly bears compared to grizzlies. Please don't use our bears for your own personal agenda.

Time to put something from Sweden too ... and what will suit better than Danish - Swedish (Skåne) Farmdog.

Kelpies and Cavoodles are the best Aussie breeds, both super friendly :D

From NZ is a mongrel called the Huntaway. It is a hill country sheep dog unlike those elsewhere. When border collies and the like were brought into NZ for sheep farming, they were virtually useless in the scrub, forest and hills as they are not vocal creatures. Huntaways are robust, energetic and loud working dogs.

Why show a North American grizzly that has nothing to do with Finland or Sweden? Your bears are small, girly bears compared to grizzlies. Please don't use our bears for your own personal agenda.
Yes, pretty small...

I'm more impressed by the courage of that man getting so close to the brown bear. I found the video. Still smaller than a grizzly though :)

No matter what, there is no dog in the world which will beat adult male Eurasian brown bear (one to one) fight. Siberian Tiger/Amur tiger might be close (they kill smaller bears) but it looks like that those 2 predators more like avoids each others. On the other hand ... I do not either think there is any dog breed which could beat Siberian tiger.

Not exactly true. All bears fear the Boston Terrier, a breed from the US. Most European countries won't allow this breed of terrier for fear it will kill off the entire brown bear population. It is much smaller than a bear yet much stronger.

LOL. ''Sure'' ... just a one hit of adult brown bear can kill adult gray wolf (broken its spinal column) or adult cow (broken its neck).
Any kind of dog can get brown bear ''killed'' only if it hunts with human and that human carries riffle...
