How many of you use it?

I see no use in it, I'm only a moderate pirate which explores safe seas .

You mean websites not found by Google and the search engines? Yes, sometimes. Some good information can be found at such sites.

Never heard of it.

Never heard of it.

Google can search and list 20% of the web, MSN can search and list 10% of the web, for example.

In order to list all the other "hidden" sites you need something else like Tor.

Basically the other 80% is the deep web.

Very often.

Any sites worth visiting? Books and that sort of thing?

There are actually horror tales about the Deep Web. It's that cryptic :p

Don't venture out into the Deep web. Alot of illegal and scary activity that occurs in there(dead srs). If you are a newb with pc's you'll be easy pray for the hackers that lurk in those slums...

from what i've heard there's alot of, uhm, p. nasty stuff lol :P alot of hidden crap like child porn, underage porn, illegal reading and guides ranging from vandalism, to terrorism... proper suicide guides and pictures (i remember there was a spate of suicides in... japan? or the uk? toilet bowl suicide, mixing specific chemicals to get a deadly gas (can't remember if it was cyanide or something related) and you couldn't find it but on the deep web.)

i know a kind of cool but kind of sketchy guy who's ordered drugs from silkroad which you need tor to use. he actually got heroin  which is kind of crazy, like legit. but i heard there are some cool stuff on there too, books and stuff like the anarchists cookbook, etc.

I'm more interested in figuring out how the search engines work. I'm using The Abyss but I must be doing something wrong. From what I gather the search has to be very specific.

The weird stuff is not hard to find. Considering there are links all over.

I have no interest in hacking, The Silk Road, CP or assassins which is where most of the traffic is. I can't see a whole bunch of weirdo's hanging around an old copy of a book on the dada art movement.

I have access to the deep web. And yes, there is scary stuff which seems to be a lot easier to find than other stuff.

It is the "other stuff" I am interested in. And how to search properly so that I can find it.

Don't go onto the deepweb.

Trust me.

I remember when Google and Yahoo used to have millions of pages when we searched. Now they are limited to like 35 pages average. I suspect something. :suspicious:

Is it true you can engage an hitman on it?

Its not that bad, by the way most of the Assassin stuff is bogus/not serious.

Is it true you can engage an hitman on it?

Apparently you can. I saw one advertising for: Reliable, legit and anywhere.

lol at "legit". I doubt whether he is legit, reliable or anywhere. But that is just the main listings I didn't really go into where one can find a really decent and reliable one because I don't hate anyone that much.

I saw some political Nazi sites too. And of course the heavy left-wing ones. And also one where you can anonymously support Islamic terrorism.

There are a number of search engines, some of which just turned up blank. I tried to do a search on marcel duchamp's art and came across some really complicated documents with mathematical equations and scientific stuff.

Unlike the normal web which has spiders and you can search "gardening" and come up with a million pages, it seems you have be really specific in your search here. I'm used to the normal searches where you can just type a word and it returns a million links. It seems like you would specifically have to look for the reproductive organs of petunias if you want an answer.

I can do screenshots if anyone is interested.

So this is the Hidden Wiki page. Like your access point. It has links to the "most popular" sites. Apparently this changes often.

It's just a whole lot of links.

These are the search engines you can use. And the ones I'm trying to figure out.

http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q526/katzentatzen79/tor2_zps5ff02972.png

And "financial services". Money laundering, paypal hacked accounts.

"Commercial services" like drugs and hitmen.

Blogs and essays :bored:

Private messaging and chat boards

Then the weird shit

http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q526/katzentatzen79/tor9_zps6c6a573c.png

I can appreciate that the most important things like hacking into paypal account wiil draw plenty of attention.

I'm more curious about books which one cannot access another way. And tips on how to use the search engines correctly

Rarely. For the most part, I've got no use for it.

After some prolonged fiddling I have concluded that this is not for me. It's really hard to find anything useful there. Or at least useful to me. Most of it is boring papers and documents concerning military stuff I don't understand. And the rest is dodgy porn I dared not click on. Normal search engines like google give you the option to filter out sites with adult content. On the deep web you can decide whether you want "pedo mode" switched on or off. Thanks, but no thanks.

What is it exactly?

Edit: Just read through the thread. There's enough weird shit on the surface Web, f that. :P

I explored it after looking at this thread. Most of it just seems like bitcoin scams and kids trying to be shocking. I don't think it's very valuable for the public at large or the average person but might be valuable for smaller organizations or between a couple of parties.

The deep web is not the dark web. What is being discussed in this thread is the dark web, which is hosted as hidden Tor services. It is much smaller than the surface web. The deep web is just the unindexed portion of the everyday world wide web.

Silkroad is probably the best known site on the dark web. There you can buy many drugs your government probably doesn't want you to have. There are also several sites hosting images of naked persons under the age of 18. The existence of these sites is a source of great comfort to me. They may be distasteful but they are the canary in the coal mine. When government goons find a vulnerability in Tor they will be the first to be targeted.

For some links to hidden services you go to pastebin.com and search for onion.

There's some crazy stuff in the darknet but most of it is uninteresting (to me anyway).

I saw some or other UFO/paranormal site, but I'm not sure if it is still active.
