The alleged difference between Arabic and Berberic stocks is a popular topic that often shows up in forums like this one.

But it is just a legend, since 99 percent of North Africans are Arabized Berbers.

It is true that the introduction of Subsaharian Black genes (through imports of slaves) matches to some extent the presence of the Arabic language (i.e. in the richest plains and the towns), while Berberic dialects are still alive in poor mountain districts where miscegenation was minimal.

But there are also almost fully Black Berberic tribes in the desert.
