I was first attracted to the music, especially Hindustani instrumental music
which I first encountered in 1970 and have loved ever since. Inasmuch as everything in India is in some way related to religion, I became interested in the sanatana dharma ["Hinduism"], especially the Upanishads and the advaita vedanta.

This led me to an interest in Sanskrit which I attempted to learn, only to discover that, by my 50's I had lost the ability to memorise vocabulary which had come to me so easily in my 20's. Alas, it is a beautiful language, but I shall never learn it.

I have read with delight, in English translation, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, and, with somewhat less delight, the Bhagavad Gita in which the parvenu god, Krishna, attempts to usurp the role of Brahman, the Absolute.

In short, my mind and soul are intoxicated with Indian culture

Also as far as i know they are the only ones to successfully invade Russia, and they did it from the east, while Napoleon and Hitler both failed coming from the west. :p

I think China was more inventive in the past. Japan takes it modern times though. No other Asian nation has been quite as competitive as they've been since the 50s. They have just about as many high tech world renown corporations as the US does.

Japan is a tiny island, yet for years they were able to surpass other Asian nations (even China) in scientific output and keep up with & even surpass some western nations that weren't Germany, France, or UK.
