I suppose she wasn't allowed to the enter the Miss White England....! Oh wait! There isn't a Miss White England, but there is a Miss Black Britain (http://www.missblackbritain.co.uk/contestants.php) and Miss India UK (http://www.missindiaukevent.co.uk/) and Miss China UK (http://www.misschinauk.com/) and Miss Pakistan UK (http://www.misspakistanworld.com/news.html) and Miss Arab UK (http://www.missarabuk.com/)

I would be displeased if I won only because of having the most "politically correct" skintone while so obviously not the best candidate :p.

It's all good. The more in people's faces it gets, the less apathetic they are going to be. Bring it on!

All these "Miss whatever" contests have long ago stopped being about beauty.

I heard that for the first time ever, a plus size model also entered the competition.

What do you think of her? (Maybe it was last year, not sure). :)

Not bad looking at all, though hardly dressed very flatteringly there. I always liked the girls in the 'Evans' catalogue lingerie section... Not the finest knees I've seen, but I'm not looking to breed racehorses, you know. ;)

I bet she felt a bit out of place there, though!

I actually, accidentally stumbled upon her on TV today. There was a show were models were casting for a photo shoot and she was really confident inside her skin!!

Not only confident but she also bullied the judges "don't even think about asking me to lose weight, this is who I am and I feel perfect with myself"... Turns out her self-confidence took her far enough since she was accepted in the beauty pageant as well... :)

P.S. a bit too fat for my beauty standards, but if she lost 7-8 kg and kept her roundness she would be perfect :)

For what, exactly? Maybe you're running some sort of breeding programme yourself?

You do of course have my contact details...
:wink

I'm glad that my grandad isn't alive to see the winner because he'd positively have kittens! But then again, he got culture shock if he went to Cheshire. ;)

Aahhh! Now the pieces of the puzzle fit snugly into place.

Apparently, the Miss World competition has introduced a new section to their competition. Can you guess what it is?

A sports section! Win that and you're through to the finals.

Go Miss. Christie. We're all behind you. http://www.thephora.net/forum/images/smilies/blackface.gif

She is nothing compared to European women with angelic beauty, but also come on, if they're going to pick someone politically correct (not white), I think they could have done better than her. :rolleyes2:

It looks like she's wearing colored contact lenses. Or it's bad Photoshop.

Quite. I've always thought black women look masculine. Especially the full-blooded ones.

@Loki

True. All the contestants on any of these have the same skinny boyish body complete with rail thin arms. No Thanks. Twiggy is old, and so is this trend.

I'm not surprised, but she's ugly. There's nothing remotely attractive about her. She's even ugly for Negro standards (or is she mulatta? I can't tell between them and A.A. Negroes, TBH) which were never high in the first place. Why else would they want to mix with us? :rolleyes2: What makes mulattoes even uglier is the fact that precious White blood was squandered on them. They're just lighter Negroes.

I prefer blue eyes. Brown eyes are beautiful, mind, but have never done it for me.

I'm serious. :) I prefer blue eyes as I am blue eyed.
Every woman has a flaw. It is up to the man to accept that flaw and appreciate her nonetheless.

She only won 9 votes from the public

The organisers of the Miss England contest have defended the competition after it emerged that the winner, the niece of Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter Linford Christie, won with only nine votes from the public. Skip related content

Have your say: London 2012 Olympic Games

Angie Beasley, director of Miss England, said the public played only a part in the contest, choosing one of the 15 top finalists with this vote amounting effectively to a seventh judge in the final selection.

She said Rachel Christie, 20, a heptathlete from London, was awarded first place by four of the six judges on the night - including the model Caprice - who assessed candidates on factors such as posture and confidence.

She said: "When it gets to the top 15, they are judged on their confidence and their posture on stage and they are judged on their beauty and their personality. When it gets to the top 15 you cannot have the public vote judging that, it has to be a professional panel."

The vote for Ms Christie comes after Zoiey Smale, Miss Oxfordshire, won the public vote with 2,013 votes. Ms Christie finished 49th out of the 54 original finalists.

Under the rules, eight of the final 15 are winners of categories such as Miss Public Vote - won by Ms Smale - with seven selected by contest judges.

Ms Christie, who hopes to compete in the 2012 Olympics, won the Helen E Cosmetic award to reach the final.

Lance Corporal Kat Hodge, 21, a soldier decorated for bravery in Iraq, came second in the final contest with Viki Bailey, 23, Miss Leeds, in third place.

Ms Beasley added that 15p of the £1 cost of ringing the premium rate phone line to vote will be divided between the charities The Variety Club, eating disorders charity B-Eat and The National Autistic Society.

One contestant, quoted anonymously in The Sun newspaper, questioned the "odd" judges' decision. She said: "It seems very odd that the overall winner, chosen by the judges, won so few public votes. The competition is far more than just a beauty contest, but it looks like the judges were totally out of touch with the public."

Would that be because the public are not running on PC choices?
