Most people here are men, and they don't generally follow gymnastics.

Yes indeed her surname comes from Cumans. She should have a Cuman ancestry at some point.

There are so many people with Cuman surnames in Romania.

Being a man or disliking gymnastics don't have a thing to do with having general culture.

Cossack, probably from Ukraine. Don't know what the classification would be.

Definitely, cumans had short bodies with stubby legs, perfect for gymnastic. Tengri blessed her soul and she got straight 10's.

Get the hell outta here you trying to downgrade her cuman superiority with your cossack BS.

Cumans died out more than 500 years ago. It's ridiculous to use that as an ethnicity today. It's like calling yourself Scythian or something. She's probably just a Ukrainian Cossack.

Sorry but you can't have her, she belongs to Turan, deal with it !

Now what would a ruski in a burqa know about Turan ? That's right, NOTHING! You can go to the kitchen now.

Wel also got as family name in Romania Coman which is cleary from cumans.
Anyway, family name only tells about paternal lineage.
I do not deny, that she have some cuman ancestry but no idea how much.

Nadia Comaneci was probably the most famous Romanian of her day. Her performances in the Olympics revolutionized women's gymnastics. Romanians may be a Latin people, but they are not Italian, multumesc.

Being a man or disliking gymnastics don't have a thing to do with having general culture.

If you follow gymnastics you're more likely to know who she is, just like with any other sport.

Her last name is Latin derived.

From cum + pater (“father”).

compater (genitive compatris); m, third declension

1.(Medieval Latin) first cousin
2.(Neo-Latin) godfather

This looks like stupid explanations of Turkovic for the meaning of his surname. Is this some kind of mental exercise in Serbia?

All the surnames with variations of Cuman/Koman/Kun in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Macedonia, Turkey comes from medieval Cumans, case closed!

If we consider what you said as the truth, then explain to me why some villager in rural Turkey also has surnames like "Kumanlar"? According to your theory, villager Turks also adopted their name from medieval Latin "compatris"?

if you don't believe me then go to facebook and search with the tag "Kuman".

Unless I missed something, I think you're confusing her with Romanian-American gymnast Dominique Moceanu. You're referring to the one that had the sister with no legs adopted out, right?

she's more famous outside romania than inside it... she was famous during communism... i don't think teenagers now know who she is... the same with gheorghe hagi or nicolae ceausescu... shadows of the past

the territories where she's from were inhabited by cumans indeed (see Cuman Bishopry or Milcovia)

LOL Hagi? Cause I meant him when I said amazing player. About Nadia well, as many gymnasts she had a really fit and athletic ass dunno. But talking on general terms, I consider romanian women to have the best booties and overall best bodies in the whole balkans. Look at those asses for Christ's sake:
