Capturing streaming video

If anybody knows some good free software for this purpose,i'd appreciate your help....i tried with vlc ...and the result was that video is ok but sound is really crappy :(

I remember a few years back I could save YouTube videos with 'Real Player' software. As far as I'm aware, Www.ZamZar.CoM has stopped 'YouTube' downloads... ;)
