This French-Germanic region is Baden´s closest relative and my favourite region in Europe in terms of beauty (architecture and landscape).
In the east there is the wide, flat rhine valley (Baden on the other side of the river, but in the same wide valley), followed by pittoresque timber-frame villages and towns in the hilly vineyards, and in the west there are the forested Vosges mountains, which separate it from "inner France".
