Jomon mtDNA contribution to Japanese, Okinawans.

Note: Jomon comfirmed mtDNA are M7a, N9b since they are found in highest frequencies in ancient Jomon skeleton and in modern Ainu, Japanese, Okinawan. Jomon Y-DNA are C1 and D2 since they are found only in ancient Jomons and modern Japanese, Ainu, Okinawans. Other Jomon DNA that are not included in the graph are M10, M8 both are mtDNA and are found in ancient Jomons however Koreans have little of that too, so there's way of knowing if they were contributed by Koreans or by ancient Jomons but the Jomon mtDNA of Japanese will much higher if they were included.

N9b and M7a is the most predominate and found in all 3 Jomon groups sampled.

Even with all the Jomon mtDNA and Y-DNA it does not mean they are closer to Jomon, in fact they are genetically very close to Yayoi. The autosomal DNA shows average Jomon blood for Japanese is only 17% while for Okinawans is higher but still predominately Yayoi, this explains why 99% of Japanese and 90% of Okinawans look very similar to Chinese, Koreans, Mongolians, Tibetans, and many North Vietnamese.

It's no surprise Japanese look like the way they do.

Most of the Jomon groups were conquered and assimilated by the Yaoi and Yamato Japanese. Only the Ainu today are last survivors of Jomon groups.

The Japanese of course saw the Ainu as barbarians because they looked extremmely different from them. However the Jomons were first conquered and later assimilated by the Yayoi and rather executing them or exterminating them they succeed in eliminating them with intermarriage.

The Ainu of Tohoku known as Emishi was later conquered by Japanese somewhere in the 7th century to 12th century, they gradually disappeared as an ethnic group. The Japanese later conquered the Ainu of southern Hokkaido in the 1600's, there Ainu also disappeared gradually, and during the Japanese empire in 1868 they ruled over all of Hokkaido and poured millions of Japanese migrants to Hokkaido. The Japanese also introduced diseases to wipe out the Ainu and reducing it's number, those who were alive were further diluted of their identity with intermarriages with Japanese. Today there's only about 100 Ainu who are almost pure today.

The pre Jomon contribution to Ainu

Y-DNA is 75% - 87.5% D2a
mtDNA is 18.5 - 23% ( M7a is 15-18% and N9b 5-7%)

The Nilvkh contribution to Ainu

Y-DNA is 12.5% - 25% C3
mtDNA is 30% - 40% ( G and Y )

Japanese men and women intermarried with Ainu too. A portion of Ainu mtDNA are from Japanese and some haplogroup D2 in the Ainu may have also derived from Japanese males.

I will like to point out that the Jomon may look caucasian but are not because they are caucasoid in any racial anthropology only their cranial features resembles caucasians.
