The Olympics was in Europe, we had a home advantage.

How? Only the UK had a home advantage, and I don't think home advantage counts for much anyway.

Sorry, but despite myself not supporting the EU, I must say that is a dumb conclusion. How does how well we do at sports have anything to do with the EU? How on earth did you reach that conclusion? :D

Population of Europe: 740million
Population of the United States: 308 million
Clearly the more people you have the more likely to find more talent.
As for China well China is just a fucked up country :D

Maybe, but we have more gold medals and medals in general than any nation in the world. Eat that :P We don't need Canada or Mexico included!

We didn't have any black athletes to win some sports, like the US had.

Probably why we're doing better actually.. doh!

American gold medalist. Most of the winners are white, whats your excuse now :P

I don't understand why African Americans are treated as "Non Americans" though. America is not a European nation, but a new world nation filled with many different groups, they belong here just as we do.

its 314 now. So its obviously half of Europes population but if you look at the data you can see that the USA won 46 Medals and Europe 130, so its obviously that europe won more medals per capita as well. Its 2.8 times more medals despite being only twice more people to the US.

U.S.A won 75 medals (if you are counting both gold and silver since the 130 number comes up only if you add gold and silver metals) 75+75=150
So If U.S.A had twice the population that it has today it would have 150medals

It will soon.

Our population has been on a steady rise since its conception. We went from a population of 305 million in 2009 to 311 million in 2011. At the rate our immigration statistics keep coming out as the highest in the world each year, we will be China soon. Hopefully not that many people though :)

edit: As of today its 314 million. 4 million increase in just 1 year lol.

Never mind, in Wikipedia it shows until 6 gold metals. It doesn't mention the 2 that Switzerland, Poland, 3 Croatia etc etc. So i do apologize for the mistake, you are right.
But anyways America is considered an obese nation don't expect that much out of it (in Olympics anyways), even though they actually did perform quite well.

The EU makes us less competitive though. :picard1:

Aussies are supposed to be really into sports, at least that's how you're perceived over here. How does it feel to be beat by Britain? :p

I thought you were saying that the EU created more competition, I found this illogical. I realise now you were arguing the exact opposite, sorry - I wasn't paying attention. My mistake. :embarrassed
