Cpuid is a program that tells you what for cpu you have and on what for clock speed it is currently running http://i46.tinypic.com/20g1sp5.jpg
(that is mine)

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html this is where you can get your latest version in case you dont have it .

Did you just build your current rig? (that cpu is rather new) And are you using fan or watercooling?

I have tried clocking mine above 4,3GHz, but it ended up getting unstable / crashing. I also tried to overlock using the stock cooler, but bad idea, 75+ degrees in 2 mins :p

I bought my processor and memory ssd and motherboard in may.

Well 4.3ghz is decent for a 2500k i think, and it depends on the way you are overclocking it, are you setting the voltages on your own or does your bios configure it for you?
Indeed stock coolers suck! Lol, and they make a fuckload of noise 2.

Ok, voltage is set to auto. Overclocking requires extra voltage I know, but the auto values should be sufficient.

That might be the problem, you should do some research for your motherboard to get the desired settings to go prehaps 200mhz or a bit more higher than that.

I'm gonna look into it later on, but I don't need more performance atm. :p

How much would a computer cost, with the following specifications?

Intel i7 / 6 core

2 tb Hard Disk Drive

16 gb RAM

nVidia GTX 660 ti

DVD R / RW

Cheers! ;)

I couldn't say TBH.

I made this rig when my dad was alive and he was a higher customs officer for Sarajevo, so I got most of my gear free from border crossing bills and VAT but I payed around for it in range of 1,3K Euros (and I got 6600 GTX for free when it came out). With subsequent upgrades like the 4 gigs of ram, 300 gbs of HDD and GTX 560 Ti I would say around 450 extra Euros on that cost. :P

6 core intel cpu are rather expensive, and you dont need 6 cores, trust me !
Anyway a pc with those specs will cost around around 1000 euro if you build it your self

True.

You don't need 6 core unless you are in to designing or doing some heavy duty code complying.

I've seen a better offer with 'future proof' specifications. The memory alone is 64 gb, BluRay writer etc for £2000. Just thinking if I should spend that much on a computer. Especially when I would only use it for things like 'word' etc... :)

I was about to get a Ivy but despite low power consumption, Intel just gone cheap and use crappy thermal paste between the core and ihs.. So it heats crazy after 4.4-4.5GHz unless you remove the ihs and use liquid ultra and reset the ihs.. With Haswell hopefully Intel wont go cheap.. also with Haswell, also Z87 chipset will appear which supports 6xsata3 ports.. I just dont want to change mobo for mere 2xsata3 ports..

yea it's true, but it only lowers the temp by 10degrees if you remove the ihs.

i currently have one and another 2hdd in raid, though i'm planning to keep it as long as i can like my current rig.. Only the gpu and peripherals i'd update, the backbone would be remain same for 3 or 4 years..

Yea i always upgrade random parts when i feel the need to.
I think my cpu will last another 4 years if not 3 and prehaps i will upgrade it after haswell ^^ My videocard is fine atm for another 2 years :D

Sorry about the delay, some SCUMBAG sold me a drink without the straw and there was no corner for me to 'peel'. Got it everywhere.

Well, there is a much cheaper 'offer' going. Basically you just walk into the shop, lift the computer and walk out! Just joking! :rofl_002:
