Introducing myself here. My name is "Pure Maiden"

I am a student Filmmaker studying Film as a major in University. My hobbies I suppose are Riding my Bike, and learning how to play Bass Guitar. My favorite instrument. I am a metal head and I love music more than anything else.

My heritage is this.

My ancestors hail mostly from the British Isles. My Grandfather was the last one to leave the " Old Country" as he called it in 1918 his parents were both born there.

His father was Full Irish, born in Kilkenny Southern Ireland. He lived there until he was 3 years old, however it was around the time of the famine and things were hard in 1872. So they pulled up the stakes and moved to Manchester England looking for work and a better life. I am assuming however that in the next 2 or 3 years they both died, because my G.G was orphaned and his family split up. He was brought to North America to Canada at 6 years old never to see his sisters again by an Uncle I think.

Long story short he grew up in Canada, then went back during the time of the 1st world war. He met my Great Grandmother who was born and raised in London in 1918, my Grand Father was born in Brighton England. They returned to Canada when he was 6 months old and that is where he grew up. Interestingly enough he too went back to England during the next war.

My Grandmother was born here, however her parents were born in England as well, in fact my G.G fought in the Boer War for England before coming here. My G.Grandmother was half French/Half Scottish.

My mother on the other hand is Pretty much all pure Scottish, her maiden name was MacMillan. She does have some English blood on my Grandmothers side. Her family has been here for over a hundred years and probably more than likely came over due to the Clearances but I don't know. My grandfather helped build the rail roads here.
Our Scottish Blood comes from the Isles of Skye and Bute.
Here is a great link to my Mothers Clan:www.rampantscotland.com/clans/blclanmcmillan.htm

I am Canadian, however i have always harbored a desire to go see where my blood came from. Being a member of the European Diaspora I suppose I have always wanted to know more about my traditional homeland. However there is no country in the world I would rather live in but the one I am in right now.

Hello. Welcome to the Apricity. :)

I'm a bit confused as to your ethnicity though. You say one of your ethnicities is British, but you also have English, Scottish and Welsh written down. You are aware that British is not an ethnicity? :)

I agree entirely Wat, but this is a common misconception among the European diaspora. maybe pure maiden means Romano-British or Brythonic?
