ngusht = tight/close/intimately
gush = the frontal part of neck

Guša also means neck in Croatian.
Also for instance "ugušiti"-to choke



Gušt means joy in Croatian.

Depends on the criteria.
As far as modernity, the ease of learning & usability are concerned, Latvian wins.
As far as language purism & archaicness are concerned, Lithuanian wins.

Most normal people don't have the weird archaicness fetish that's prevalent in these anthroboards. And I bet that most foreigners trying to learn Latvian will appreciate its innovativeness - languages don't get modernised for nothing, it improves their usability. Abundance of internationalisms is a sign of modernity.

But I only posted Latvian for comparison because I am currently learning it, so the comparison was primarily interesting for myself.
