Another example for the level of corruption in Bulgaria!

Apparently 20 Bulgarian customs officers who works in the Turkish border control, applied to their job with fake diplomas. These people were already filmed before while demanding bribe from Turkish people who tries to pass from the border.

16 Bulgarian Customs Officers Suspected of Diploma Forgery
There are strong suspicions that sixteen Customs officers from the Svilengrad Customs on the Bulgarian – Turkish border have been hired after presenting fake college diplomas.

The news was reported Thursday by the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR.

A check of the Customs Agency has shown that on the day the officers had to take their final college exam, known as the State exam, 10 of the 16 worked during the day shift, and 6 worked the night shift. In addition, some of them somehow took 6 exams in one day at some point during the course of their studies.

Customs Chief, Vanio Tanov, is quoted saying that the above is certain evidence the diplomas are fake. The 16 cases will be referred to the new Chief Prosecutor, who was just sworn in office Thursday.

Four people from the Svilengrad Customs have already been fired for using a forged document.

The work of the Customs officers, often exposed in corruption, has come under higher scrutiny in the last year. In May 2012, the entire shift of the Svilengrad Customs was caught red-handed when taking bribes, while all of the Customs officers failed the administered loyalty test.

And this country has actually joined the EU (so much for their criterias). I do not insult Bulgaria here, but it is really a very corrupt country (and the same holds true for my own country unfortunately, thanks to 70 years of communism) and I'm not saying this based on this article only, unfortunately this is the remnant of the communist past, but you would except that EU would require them to completly sort it out before accepting them into the Union. These type of countries has only one purpose in the Union, leeching on the funds of Western countries, I.E Greece.

Well, but as I know Turkey haven't communism for 70 years and Bulgaria can't leech funds from EU , because we are not in Eurozone, we do not use still Euro as payment unit. And corruption is not Bulgarian patent.

In countries with a high level of corruption, Custom Officer is the most favorite place of work.

It seems that Turkey is not the best example to be followed...

I am not saying that Turkey is free from corruption but we are no where near Bulgaria. Also for some reason that i don't know, Bulgaria`s corruption is mostly about leeching Turkish people. They demand bribes from us when crossing the border, while traveling around their roads, while trying to do some business in their country and so on. They even travel to Turkey to set up ATM machine scam setups here. At least one Bulgarian crime gang gets caught in Turkey once a week, while trying to steal people`s money by using ATM machines.

And do not try to blame gypsies for that because they are Bulgarians, not gypsies. Bulgarians even get caught in Uganda for ATM scamming last month;

What you wanted to say here?

Your relatives paid 5000 TL each to get a Turkish passport? You are lying again because Bulgarian Turks no need to pay any money/bribe to get Turkish passport. They are automatically qualified for getting Turkish passport because they are Turks.

Why they bribed for something they are already qualified for free? And why they applied for Turkish citizenship anyway? Arent they "Bulgarian nationalist EU citizens"(!) like you?
