Two of my favourite Turkish films, Muhsin Bey (1987) and Züğürt Ağa (1985); both humorous but sad stories about social change in Turkey. Muhsin Bey is about Arabesque music becoming more popular at the expense of traditional Turkish music; Züğürt Ağa, as you all might know, is about the collapse of feudalism and the migration to Istanbul.

Dervis Zaim's documantary -movie for Adana Altın Koza (Golden Cocoon) movie Festival about rural life in Anatolia human nature relationship and circle of nature.

Actors of this movie are real shepherds. Also pink sheep are cute!

KNzrZsST0uM

Half animistic Half Islam folk culture of region is really worth to see ,esp those sacred pile of stones under a tree made by shepherds reminds me the ones in Central Asia called Obos..

At the end of every summer, 'Hasanpasa' village holds a shepherding contest. The traditional contest requires shepherds to herd their sheep one by one through a pool of water. The shepherd who crosses the pool with his flock fastest and with least hesitation wins the contest. 'Hasanpasa's seasoned champion for the past eight years is an elderly shepherd known as 'Takmaz'. 'Takmaz' is determined to teach the younger generation the finer points of being a good shepherd, like him.

"A Touch of Spice" is a story about a young Greek boy (Fanis) growing up in Istanbul, whose grandfather, a culinary philosopher and mentor, teaches him that both food and life require a little salt to give them flavor; they both require... A Touch of Spice. Fanis grows up to become an excellent cook and uses his cooking skills to spice up the lives of those around him. 35 years later he leaves Athens and travels back to his birthplace of Istanbul to reunite with his grandfather and his first love; he travels back only to realize that he forgot to put a little bit of spice in his own life.

I know this is an old movie but I just saw it recently and I must say I found it to be an amazing movie in many aspects.
