Switzerland is a confederation consisting of 3 entities.
They are extremly nationalistic and proud.
Nevertell a Swiss they are German or French.
They are going to curse you

But I know them. I have Swiss television, which I hardly understand because their dialect is almost incomprehensible and I have met some Swiss

They are. Only very decentralised with high local autonomy. Kind of makes them unique.

That`s beyond my knowledge, but they stick together.
There are no ethnical divisions in Switzerland.
A Swiss is a Swiss irrespective of the language they use

Well Switzerland was originally part of the German Reich for many years. It's been an independant nation since 1291 though. It did not become an official Federal State with a constitution until 1848. Its existence throughout history has mainly been for political reasons.

Are there exceptions to this rule?

In a civic/political sense? Yes.

In an ethnocultural sense? No.
