At home we cook and eat together ,despite I hate eating salad i m the one preparing it ,dad usually goes fishing and sometimes spends days alone at weekends so he knows how to cook -you won't believe but he even cooks regular food ,beans ,ocras ,artichokes even though sometimes he needs some help by telephone instruction (mums advices)
I love cooking too but I cook only for myself ,others do not enjoy my turmerics ,curries paste-coconut based sauces ,gingers and other stuff...but I m good at crepes and macaroni ,I cook on demand time to time.

I make it myself, I am trying to eat as healthy as possible so the family meals my family eats is not the best option.

My dad cooks enough at his work, so at home he leaves the job to my mother and sister. Since I myself have two left hands with regard to this, I rather keep aloof as well. :( I can only make fried eggs with sucuk, instant soups and noodles, salads, sandwiches and frozen pizzas. :D Which I'm not proud of by the way, but I intend to learn.

I always cook in my house and even now that my mom is staying with me I still refuse to let her cook.
It's not just that she is utterly useless as a kitchen; I feel obliged to treat her as my guest, which she is, of course.

i dont know how it is in other countries but in the west you can pretty much forget living alone if you have no high paid job. People used to live by the mothers to have it easier but its getting more and more impossible living alone.

Here currently, me and my roommates all cook about equally.

Back at home the cooking was generally done by my mother.

My mother like 60% of the time, me 30% and my dad and sister like 10% (they only help :P)

And yes, I also live at home. ;)

I am literally the only person in my family who doesn't cook.

In some ways, I'm very typical of my ethnicity, but in others, I'm a terrible example.

It was always split. Certain dishes my dad made, certain things my mom, and some dishes were only made when other relatives were around. Luckily, my sisters love to cook, and one even went to a big fancy French academy. So, the recipes won't die with my parents.

It's not 'throwing your kids out', it's teaching them independence and responsibility and how to function as an adult.

Ja ja,thats just what you say :D no one can tell me its that when the kid is a student and least thing he needs is to pay for his own place

although more and more swedes keep their kids home for longer time,20 years ago at 18 most move out, today my friends most of them still live home

Normally I cook myself.

When I'm at my family my mother cooks for me. She is so much better than me at cooking, but I first recognized it since I left my parents house. :D

If I'm in a relationship sometimes my girlfriend cooks, but most of the time I have to fight hunger on my own! :D

An 18-19 year old student still living with their parents isn't really comparable to someone in their mid-20s living at home, even if they are still a student. You have to face the real world at some point, and you can't constantly use being a student as an excuse not to grow up and act like an responsible adult. (I'm not really talking about you btw, just speaking generally about this mentality)
