Sicilian as I may be, I'm a Milanista. We failed to get Kaka back, and we failed to purchase Balotelli from Man City. :picard1:

My home club Palermo may be relegated to Serie B if they don't improve their performance. :picard2:

All we got was Zaccardo...

And we lost Pato. Way to go, Galliani.

At least Il Faraone will be in red and black for years to come.

I think we will sell Abate to Russia and then maybe get Balotelli or Kaka on a loan.

alfieb

From my understanding, we've wanted Kaka on a loan all along but Madrid insist on selling his entire contract.

I love Kaka, but he hasn't been the same since he left, and he's getting older. I would prefer to get Mario.

Of course, he is Sicilian, and grew up a Milanista, so perhaps I am biased.

alfieb you should support Palermo, or AC Catania. A proper sicilian nationalist can't support a northern team...

Milan became too multiculti. 90's- early 2000's, those were the golden days...

Juventus signed Llorente, which I consider a good deal (although he'll be joining Juve in the summer), and we're planing to get a striker on-loan, who might as well be Lisandro Lopez from Lyon.
Overall I'm happy with the Juve's performance this season, although they could have done a bit better in some of the league games.

Sure I can. I don't want a Sicilian team to win the Italian league. I want Sicilian clubs to leave and have our own league, (where perhaps Messina can be relevant again).

I support Palermo against anyone other than Milan. My grandfather was Bresciano, and growing up in New York, we had Milan matches on local TV every week. While most of my family support Palermo or Juve, it's always been the rossoneri for me.

When will italian teams be consistant in Europe again? I think it's about time Barcelona gets more serious competition.

The story in Italy for the past few years has been that nobody tries in international competition and that the scudetto is everything.

Basically they lost the economic power they used to have. Big players now all go to Spain or England. A few years ago the Champions League was more exciting because it was achievable to more clubs.

alfieb

Oversimplified a bit.

Bayern and PSG are up there as well, but yeah, it's England and Spain where teams have deep coffers.

Baldur

I think the italian league has lost its shine thanks to all the controversies as well and the Bundesliga has really passed Serie-A. It's a shame but also thanks to the lack of money and the lack of attendance in Italy.

Roma is owned by the same people as Liverpool and the American baseball team in Boston - they have money.

Napoli is owned by the Di Laurentiis family, who are obscenely wealthy.

Milan is owned by Berlusconi, Italy's richest man. He can spend.

Nobody wants to.

Still all the team lose their stars to England, France and even Russia today. Milan have become a joke, a big club that cant even afford to keep their star players...

We're all waiting for the Portuguese to do it.

Nobody wants to.
Every big spending club has debts for hundreds of millions, so if the alternative is keeping a lower profile in international competitions I welcome this policy as a return to sanity. It was about time that football clubs started to being run like companies. I'm looking forward to the day when Abramovic and the sheiks grow bored of their toys, or when the banks finally ask their money back. ;)

Silvio is nearing the end. Why would he begin to care about losing money now? He should seek more success for Milan to improve his legacy.

Time to change your name, buddy. Balotelli is a Milanista, his boyhood dream is realized.

Mario Balotelli is on his way out of Manchester City after the Premier League champions agreed a deal with AC Milan.

The Italian club say Balotelli has agreed a four-and-a-half year contract.

:yuck: So an epoch has come to an end, after supporting Milan since i was 6 years old now its time to say RIP Milan. 2 of the players i hate the most is in what used to be the worlds most beautiful club. Now i cant feel love anymore, however once Balotelli and Kevin Gay-Prince Boateng has left i might consider start supporting the club again.

I've been a Milanista since I was a child as well, and while I hate a lot of people who have played for us (Seedorf, Dida), I bleed rossonero.

I like Shaarawy, I like Balotelli, and I hope the two of them both score hundreds of goals for us and stay with the team for a decade.

Baldur

I do to its just impossible for me to support and be happy when those 2 players are succesful.

alfieb
01-30-2013, 06:58 AM
Why do you hate them? Their racial background?

Balotelli, while playing for Inter, said that he was a fan of Milan. That deserves some respect, even if he is immature. He hated Merda growing up and had no trouble telling them that, even as they paid him.

Baldur
01-30-2013, 07:00 AM

Financial drama. After they dropped from Serie A to Serie B, the owner wanted to sell, and nobody was interested. They became an amateur side, and they've been sold like 3 or 4 times for peanuts ever since.

Their name is now ACR Messina, but there is also a new club called SSD City of Messina, and they are both in the same division of Serie D. I expect them to merge at some point, and when a big backer takes over Messina, they will gradually make their way back to Serie B and hopefully Serie A.

But right now, Palermo looks to be dropping to Serie B, so three Sicilian teams is a pipe dream.

Italian football is very strange...there are some clubs that ''once upon a time'' were strong and now are in some remote division like Serie C1, etc....the ''Pro Vercelli'' for example has 6 (!) scudetti, more than Lazio, Roma, Napoli, etc.

alfieb
02-01-2013, 09:08 AM
And no Sicilian club has ever won a Scudetto, despite Messina, Catania, and Palermo all having been in the top tier of Italian football.

Good riddance. There are barely any Sicilians in Serie A. We should have our own league.

In Piemonte 4 clubs have scudetti:

-Juventus 28 (30?)
-Torino Calcio 7 (8?)
- Pro Vercelli 7
- Casale Calcio 1

Last two are almost unknown clubs in 2013...

alfieb
02-01-2013, 09:34 AM
5 clubs. US Novese won back in the 1920s.

Even Sardegna has won the scudetto (Cagliari), but no Sicilian team.

Twofold. One, they are more conservative in the South, and secondly if they played, for example, on Palermo, the joke everyone would make would be that they were indigenous and representative of Sicilians.

Of course, Balotelli was born in Palermo, but to refugee parents.
