I thought she was either one or the other, not both, but typical American ignorance she thought her Turkish family from Greece was actually Greek, or her Greek family from Turkey was actually Turkish. It's common mistake for 2nd-4th generation Americans- some person with last name Spinelli found out their great -Grandfather came from Austria Hungary and said "Oh, I'm Austrian".

But I could be wrong. I have a feeling though...

You could be right but maybe it is the other way around? Turkish family from Greece? Anyway, I think she is both. Probably a Cypriot.. A mixed Turkish Greek Cypriot family/person who moved to Brittain (like a lot of Cypriot-Turks) and married a Welsh/Brittish person. :)

First Turkish immigrants in USA was from Ottoman empire and are mostly assimilated today.Her Turkish ancestors were among these assimilated Turks perhaps.And the other thing is that Ottoman citizens were emigrating together.Some of them mixed with each other probably.
