The Jobbik party foundation awarded anthropologist Zsolt András Bíró with the first Pongrátz Gergely Merit Award for his anthropological and genetic research on Hungarians and their ancestors and for his exemplary work on the historical perspective of early Hungarians announced Jobbik vice-president Levente Murányi Friday morning.

Zsolt András Bíró's work is a major step forward in the research on prehistoric Hungarians that the communist dictatorships censored and manipulated, and the current political establishment unfairly curbs said Murányi.

The national radical deputy emphasized that Bíró also made a major contribution to the organization of Kurultaj, the largest traditional equestrian event in the country; as a result of his organizational work, he has become an internationally recognized symbol of Hungary's Eastern Partnership Policy.

Murányi remarked that Zsolt András Bíró previously attended and spoke at a Jobbik organized protest where participants condemned Bolshevik agents, and the corrupt judiciary. This also shows that Bíró has a strong affinity with the mindset that Gergely Pongrátz represented.

Ten years ago, on October 24 at Jobbik's first party congress Gergely Pongrátz (one of the leaders of the 1956 uprising) entrusted the flag of the revolution to the party, as a result, Jobbik has become the depository of the spirit of the 1956 revolution said Murányi.

The award will be presented to Zsolt András Bíró by Levente Murányi and Gábor Vona tomorrow on January 26, at Jobbik season opening event where the chairman of the party Gábor Vona delivers the State of the Nation Address. The event will be aired live by television N1.
