Monarchists' prank
On 5 October 1910 Portugal's First Republic was proclaimed from the balcony of Lisbon's city hall. A group of monarchists who run the blog named 31 da Armada marked the 99th anniversary of the death of the monarchy by hoisting the flag of the monarchy at that very same place early on Tuesday morning. Manuel António Pina comments in the daily Diário de Notícias: "As a republican, whatever that may mean, I found it funny. As we would say in Alentejo: It was funny and no one was offended. When I saw the white-blue flag flying at Lisbon's city hall at first I thought it was the [flag] of football club FC Porto and that the merry men with the ladder were members of the Super Dragões claque. That would have been even funnier [because of the ongoing rivalry between the Lisbon and Porto clubs]." (12/08/2009)
