As tempted as I am to shout out"GOOD!!!" (I cannot stand that nutcase!), there is a saying that "Sunlight is the best disinfectant". That's how Fred Phelps and his Westboro Church became so wildly UNpopular in the US - even before he started picketing funerals of killed troops (I refuse to add "Baptist" because the Southern Baptist Convention disowned him years ago). Only if he were inciting a riot or (sorry for the Americentrism, given this is the UK, but I don't know how to put it better) to use US legal terminology a "clear and present danger" to the general public order.

As it is, perhaps its an Americanist bias on my part, but I think the UK "jumps the gun" (as in foot races) a bit quickly about free speech issues.

I don't know, if the UK has rules against racism or 'hate speech' then it would only make sense that he's banned in Britain. He has made several, obvious racist remarks on the air.
