View Full Version : Classify Kalymnian Greeks.

The Kalymnians, being under the Italians for half a century before returning to Greece in 1945 shares a slightly different history as part of the Dodecanese than other areas of Greece that returned to Enosis sometime before. Because of this, Kalymnians and other Dodecanese people still rely on the Church of Constaninople rather than the Church of Greece.

I think most of the people belong in Atlanto-Mediterranean category, like a lot of Greeks with some more Eastern looking individuals as well. I'll add to this series other members of Dodecanese islands as well, such as Rhodes, Kos, Leros.

All of them can pass in Calabria and Sicily, at least the eastern part of the island.

I agree. Do you think there is anywhere more "Eastern" they could pass? I think they primarily "look" Greek, but anything else?

Most of them could also be Turkish and a few Armenian. They don't strike me as Lebanese though. They are more Anatolian.
